game convention

I am with a group looking into th e possibility of having a miniatures/ gaming convention in saskatoon Oct 1 and 2 2011. The con would be a break even event, a place for gamers to gather, show off, and recruit new people

Would the Saskatoon 40K group support a miniature games convention in Saskatoon by hosting a tournament, demos, etc?

Heya.. which group are you with that is planning a convention?

I used to run the 40k tournie for the Heroes Gambit conventions when it was running, and I'd be open to the possibility of running an event again. That being said.. it really depends on organization. Im not sure what your plan would be.. but the subject of terrain and tables is the big one.

Are you just sending out feelers for someone to run the event, or are you looking for someone to handle the whole thing? I guess what Im wondering is will the terrain and tables already be there from other events, or is that something we'd have to handle ourselves? Probably alot of questions if your just at the beginning stages, but wanted to see what level your at.

If your just gathering info to see what interest there is.. Im sure the interest would be there. Theres no official league running right now, but Im sure alot of people would show up for a tournie.

As we have just started looking into the possibility everything is still up in the air. It would be along the lines of what HG use to do but focused on miniatures and board games, running Saturday and Sunday. The organizers would be looking after getting the venue, moving in tables and terrain, having a non-profit group run a canteen, etc. There would be a cost to each individual attending to cover venue expenses and what not. The event would be run at break even, no one makes money off it (the idea is that if there is any profit goes to a charity). I will have more details to pass along as things begin falling into place.

It would be nice if your group would consider running an event.
