Psychic hood

So I am wanting to convert myself a librarian from one of the metal jump pack chaplains. I have the head I want to use and the sword I am going to use for the force weapon, but I am stuck on how to craft the psychic hood.
Any one have any ideas?

I have heard that using a space marine shoulder pad works good, but when I put one on it looks bulky and out of place (overly big).

I remember seeing some step by steps on how you need to carve out the shoulder pad to fit and make it look more aesthetically pleasing. There should be some blogs or forum threads somewhere on it (Dakka?). Try a google image search for 'librarian conversion' hopefully something will come up.
