dipping workshop
Would anyone be interested in a dipping workshop on sunday? I am going to be using the technique on a quick 1000pt army, and if i have time i would be willing to hang at the den for a couple hours and show people what i learned from my Ivans orc army. If interested let me know, or i wont go down. I prefer to work at home, but i know people have been talking about dipping quite a bit.
Re: dipping workshop
What time? I work until 1pm, I think. I would love to come though, always looking to expand my knowledge.
And yes, I am one of those fools looking to dip their armies so I can get them done without actual effort

I will be down as well to check out Cam's tutorial, and do some painting as well! i've been trying some new techniques for speed painting.

Re: dipping workshop
sounds good guys, i guess i better get rolling on this if im going to have things ready by sunday. I would like to have 3 orc models done in stages, and also a nurgle marine. If anyone has a request for a model to be done, i will do my best if you provide 3 of the same type of model. It will depend on what colors you want though. Gotta stick with the earth tones mostly.

Re: dipping workshop
Update: hey guys, there seems to be allot of interest in this, so that in encouraging. I might have a last minute problem though. I am still pretty sure that i will be able to go ahead with it, but check the boards before you head down on sunday. If it will still work i will be there by 1pm.
Im really hoping that it will work out because its also the dens bi-weekly paint day, so it might be cool to see who all shows up, talk some trash, etc...

Re: dipping workshop
Will you be using the min-wax method? Its definitely the cheapest, and quickest way since you can get the stuff at any Hardware store.
I only mention it because there are speciality products out there now, most specifically the Army Painter way (www.thearmypainter.com) where they specialize in primer sprays, and different dip types.
Of course, the Army Painter way can get pretty darn expensive, and I have no experience with it, but I just wanted to drop a note about the product. The techniques you learn from Cam though are the most important thing.

Re: dipping workshop
Darren actually carries the army painter set now which is pretty cool. The primers are cheaper than GW and come in colors. I already have all the stuff to do it the minwax way though, so im gong to use it up before i consider army painter.
Re: dipping workshop
Alright, it looks like everything is a go. I should be there by 1pm.
I dipped a couple plague marines today and im not thrilled with how they look, but i need to remember that i am going for speed and not so much quality. I also forgot that the minwax takes a long time to dry, so im not sure if they will be in good enough condition to matt coat them or not. Right now they are pretty shiny =/
