~MASS EFFECT 2~
I bought this today. After furtively removing the plastic wrap, and glancing at the manual, I came to this realization:
I will not leave the house all WEEKEND OR PROBABLY NEVER.
Funny side note: the silly EB games rep offered the game guide for a discount. Who buys a game guide for an rpg? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a sandbox game?

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
Played through the first one, loved it. Beat it three times.
I will be getting this one... later. My current gun-toting RPG of the month is Fallout 2, which I have yet to beat (beat the first one twice, never really started into the second.
but after I play through Fallout 2 once... I shall go for Mass effect 2. Ahh, sequels!!

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
I had started Fallout 2 about 3 times. The first time I played it (now, this was a long time ago, I bought it new when it came out) something happened when I got a new computer and my save game glitched when I tried to transfer it. I tried getting up to the same point a few times, but I didn't have the patience when I was younger.
The first Fallout is the best RPG I had ever played, relatively speaking. At that time, the player creation, story, and gameplay was so awesome, I was awestruck. There also wasn't alot of post Apoc type games out there, there were some, but not in depth ones.. (Wasteland doesnt count). It's probably a very, very close tie with Icewind Dale for me, although I have to say I had an amazing time playing Dragon Age. I just really wish I played through it on the comp and not the playstation. Dragon Age though is like a brand new Icewind Dale, so those are pretty much tied in my book.
The new Fallout was a ton of fun, but I love the multi member party management type of games, swapping inventory, then of course the over arching story line Dragon Age had.
Im interested in Mass Effect 2, but would have to pick it up for the comp. Id like to here some more about it when you've played a bit through it Paz.
There aren't any big games I'm waiting for available for the PS3. Anyone hear anything I might be missing out about?

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
They're all on the PC and Xbox 360
IMHO Fallout 3 was crap. Utter crap. Bethesda totally blew that one. It is nothing like the original two - the charm, the immersion... it's all gone. Everything in that game is "been here, done that" in the previous two titles... and in Oblivion. My lord, was Fallout 3 ever a re-branding of a game if I've ever seen one. I played Oblivion for more than 100 hours total and have beaten the game and every quest. Oblivion was quite good even if did have its issues. Fallout 3 feels exactly like it but the clunky mouse controls and terrible design shine through even more.
Combine that with their absolutely craptastic Gamebyro engine, and you have a recipe for disaster. I'm sorry, my computer can run Crysis reasonably well and you're telling me that your Doom 3 graphics stutter and lag? Wow.
EDIT: Wait, by "new fallout" do you mean 2 or 3?
Dragon Age I'm having problems getting into. The clunkiness of the game makes me miss WoW's beautiful interface and control schemes; Dragon Age just feels like a retarded little brother. Don't get me wrong, BioWare has a special place in my heart. It'll just take me a while before Dragon Age "clicks" the same way Mass Effect did. Then you won't see me for a month or three

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
I as well played oblivion to death, and really liked fallout 3. Cool weapons, cool wandering, cool beans. Difference of oppinion. Also, I played my 360 version, sitting on a couch vs. on a chair in front of the pc= way better experience for RPGs
I'm really excited to use my character from mass effect one in 2. Best feature IMHO.

I'm a PC gamer through to the core, although I do own a 360. I barely touch it; I certainly wouldn't play Oblivion or Fallout 3 for it. No capability for modding.Paz wrote:Difference of oppinion. I'm still waiting for my xbox to come back from microsoft, I've had mass effect two since sunday and it hurts me physically to not be playing it.
@Robyn - Get Bioshock 2 for ps3, not sure if you played the first one, but if you didn't get that too, both fantastic imo.

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
Do not play Mass Effect 2, it will consume far too much of your life, you'll never get it back, granted there is not much I would want to trade that time for. One problem for me; scions on insanity......

Re: ~MASS EFFECT 2~
Is perchance her son's name Matt Rhodes?
