"The most important thing is all the games during the tournament will allow you to accumulate recon points in the league. As well, all who participate will recieve some league bonus points, including the winners who might even get some strategic points.. Ooooooo... In order to claim these points though, you'll have to be signed up in the league, and playing the same army you register with for the league. "

I think the no ordinance rule should be changed to no large blast templates. For example, the soul grinder has a str 8 PA 3 assault 1 large blast template, which is obviously just as devastating as a battle cannon. The soul grinder itself has too much armour to be taken in these games, but there are more occurrences of these types of 'non-ordinance' ordinance weapons elsewhere.

* The reason for the current rule being to not destroy your opponents 1-2 squads in 1-2 rounds of shooting with one unit.

Ya....a psyker squad in Chim would be rather nasty in a recon game.....

so spore mines count as a barrage weapon do they count?

its a large blast so does that mean they are not allowed?

Well my tau brings a weapon called the airburst fragmentation projector. Its g18" range str 4, ap5, ignores cover saves.

so are large blasts illegal now? need to know for list tomorrow

griffon and whirwind are ordinance

psyker battle squad is assault 1 large blast

demo charge assault 1 large blast

there are a few more out there, they could be removed by other restrictions, but best keep it safe

"Barrage" is fine. "ordinance barrage" is not.


Large, non-ordinance blasts will be fine for the tournament since its too short notice to make any changes anyway. I guess I should have made my post with something along the lines of "for future tourneys/games..."

Question though, wouldn't taking away large blasts of all kinds really give a huge buff to people playing horde type armies? Seems it would just be buffing them and penalizing other armies who have those weapons to try and "deal" with the horde type armies.

i am fine with these rules as long as you keep small blasts

I don't think there's any high ap large blasts that aren't ordnance so I'm fine with it.

Where does it say that they are a large blast? Being a nid player myself I'd really like to know.

ok so apparently my games have been... off... when I've used them. Sorry to those whom this was used against but apparently i must have messed up back in the day and misaligned barrage with large blast. no its just a blast as per top of pg29...
i really don't see a point to these now...

EDIT: my confusion is not from messing up terms, the first set of nids i got was in the "battle of macragge" and the scenario book says that spore mines are a large blast.

Hmmmm they have been large blast in the last editions of the codex since 3rd edition...

so now that the tourney's over should we make a decision about the large blast/ordnance question?
