Thanks Robyn. Although it should be pointed out that if you don't have very much money as you say, 40K might not be the game for you. It's just about the most expensive hobby you can have.

Re: Chaos Space Marines
Bah, there are more expensive hobbies. Besides, wargames are good for the youth.
Evilsuns10 also happens to be my nephew, so lets not discourage him.
If i had any chaos marines left unpainted i would help you out Josh, but all i have these days is allot of bitz. Being a student i can hardly afford the hobby myself.
One other place you might try is bartertown. Its a website that is dedicated to the buying, selling, and trading of miniatures. Often there are people who will sell stuff cheap becuase it has a bad paint job, or other defects. If you are just trying to get the models so you can start playing, and dont care about the painting side of things yet, you might have some luck. Of course there are lots of items that are new as well, but people usually want about 80% of retail, which dosent save you much.

Not even CLOSE! 40k, or mini wargaming in general is cheap as all hell compared to a lot of hobbies. Smoking, drinking, gambling, all WAY more!
You can get an entire army for 40k for 500$ now, and easily way less. Factor in 150$ for brushes and a selection fo paint and you've got like one years worth of hobbyin'. What costs less? Walking I guess. Talking to homeless people is also very cheap. Mackin' the ladies can be cheap, if you're not to fussy. Power dumping is cheap and healthy.
Mini's and gaming is one of those variable expense type of dealies where it can cost as much as you want it too. If you buy what you need, and not go hog wild on pet side projects and other distractions Warhammer of any variety is a great expense vs. Video games and lots of the alternatives. In terms of pure gaming, things liek RPG's and Board games are less out of pocket then 40k and the like, but their not really the hobby style of game where you get to spend so much time customizing and creating your own personal army.
I think we should all shame Tim a little bit here. Perhaps we can take turns posting a lookout outside his house and heckle him as he leaves/returns from work and such. I will take first watch. Who's with me?

"Not even CLOSE! 40k, or mini wargaming in general is cheap as all hell compared to a lot of hobbies. Smoking, drinking, gambling, all WAY more!"
HA... HAHAHAHA... HAHA... I think if I spent as much on smokes, drinking and gambling as I do on 40k I'd be drunk, need 2 lung transplants and rich (since at that point the odds have to be in my favor)
Honestly I can't think of any hobby I've ever had that occupied more time and money (not that I don't enjoy it) but I mean, video games? $70 for wow, then $12 a month for the rest of your life... and you won't even need other forms of entertainment. Although I guess it's different coming from someone with 3 unrealistically large apocalypse armies.
However it all depends on how impulsive/addictive you are, and take it from someone who smokes, drinks and gambles, 40k is expensive.
The only hobby I could think that's more expensive would be crashing ski-doo's into Ferrari's by dropping a helicopter full of ski-doo's out of a space shuttle. Altho, I'm sure there's someone out there with enough 40k models to cover that cost lol.

You need a computer for Wow. They're less money then they used to be, but not free. And if that is the only video game you buy, then it's comparable to 40k. Still need a net connection and stuff too. Mini Wargaming is as expensive as you want it to be. Realistically how many models can a person paint, assemble, and game with in a single month? A Pack every other day smoker who drinks a single case of beer a week is on the hook for 50$ a week. But like 40k if you take your smokes and drinking seriously then it can escalate easy! I don't even like to think what my bro spends on that stuff!
40k on a budget is do able, and not that tough. Even if you stick with buying stuff from the Den and avoid online stuff it's not intimidating unless you try to jump in all at once with both feet, your arms, and maybe your face too.
Especially with the league format of playing little games before you get to play bigger games (I think that's how you're doing it?) then you really can start playing in the league qucik for not as much cash as you think.

Re: Chaos Space Marines
Are you still looking for some cheap chaos mariens? I have a bunch of stuff I'd be willing to trade for.
I have full squad of khorn Bezerkers, most are assembled and painted but some need a bit of work.
I also have one or two squads of metal chaos marines. They are all painted but might need a bit of reglueing.
Post and let me know if your interested.
