League demand

How is everyone feeling about getting a regular league running again?

Mark's suggested a round robin format... which i'm cool with. Any other ideas/suggestions/desires?

As always.. simpler rules the world in terms of a basic league.

I'd be down for trying out the concept of an Escalation league that someone recently mentioned. Easy lists to build and transport early on, perhaps with a painting requirement since so little would be brought to the table early on? It would keep things manageable for hobby effort.

Simple is good. Escalation sounds fun, minus the painted requirement. In theory it'd be nice to force painted only but that would probably just put me on the bench more as I'm an extremely lazy painter.

Baring horde style armies, painting up 500 points every 2-3 weeks wouldn't be too hard. Especially if you mix in already painted stuff into each increment.

No. It "wouldn't" be hard at all. Except I'm a lazy painter. Lol

We've done escalation before, and it always works out decent.

There would be no enforced painting requirement, but bonuses for having a painted force.

Any format, as long as I can fit it in on my home weeks.
That said....

Escalation is good, although I'm in favor of keeping it simple.

Games between 1500-2000 pts, battleforged. Any detachments, formations, or books. IA allowed.
Playoffs 1750, same format.

Round robin so everyone plays everyone.

If anyone wants to make it narritive go nuts, be nice if it tied in with other tourneys, etc.

Anything to encourage a weekly game. I'd say leave round robin off the table for now, just in case people are busy and can't get a game in every week.

Yeah, easier to go with a points system where you just play as many as possible, rather than full round robin. We all have our own schedules, and it can be hard to organize to play EVERYBODY.

I vote points based escalation style.

I'm bored at work and want to muck around with lists lol.
Like, there any armor/wound/character/detachment restrictions? Or just build a 500pt army and play it for a week or two then it go to 750, or 1k?

Im in for any type of league play! escalation sounds like a lot of fun.

All the escalation stuff I've done is simply increase in points, no special FOC.

I'm leaning towards a standard "play whatever points" league.. unless someone else has a better idea. I'm pretty darn open.. just want to see something up and running... anything.

If it was escalation.. i'd recommend using the "40k in a Flash" rules..or something similar. It's under the League Rules category.

If we did do Escalation, would the goal be to hold the same list that you just expand upon, like the Escalation tournaments? Or would it just be whatever you felt like bringing that day, in that period's points bracket?

As I'll be climbing whole hog into admech for the upcoming release, escalation would be grand. Tho I'm Down for anything, would be nice to get 40k back on top at the den, push out all those stinky warmahordes players :p

For the "greater league" it would only be simple lists.

As I've mentioned before though.. if someone was running something else.. a more sophisticated escalation, campaign.. etc. as long as you and your opponent are both registered for the league you can report any game you play.

So it looks like this one will be a very basic league? I'm down with that.

Sounds like, if you want to league it up, post in thunderdome and arrange a game, with whatever parameters. Slug it out, and report back?

As well.. for the guys thinking of an escalation style campaign.. you can run it along with the regular league as well..

The previous league never took off.

Did you pay a league fee? I think Darren put up a sign up sheet and collected some names but there was never a league officially formed. He'll have the information there.. ill go over it and push anyone who signed up into the new one.
