taurox conversion

decided to try my hand at converting a taurox prime.  this will be for a command squad, so im giving it the TL Volley Gun default on the sides, and the optional Gatling Cannon on the roof.  here's some of the body work done so far:

I like how you fixed some of the odd angles on the kit. Are you planning any substitutions or modifications for the treads?

Is it a skimmer now? Hovering on a wallet? :-)

it's a hovercraft, the wallet is the skirt/balloon part of it.

Looks good, though I would change the color

red ones go faster.  this is just a basecoat for the main hull, i've got alot of the bits off to do more fiddly metal stuff.  the wheels are just sitting there for a mockup for now.  being real rubber, i dont want to glue them on until the rest of the painting is done first.

In the picture it looks like the tires sit higher than the treads, makes it seem lop sided. But could just be the pics.

The tires look good.. put a dual set on the back and it would look awesome!

Those treads are just..  ..  horrible. The model otherwise is lookong great.

The tires are in fact 1/16" taller than the treads. I have to make a spacer for the rear treads to sit higher at the axle hub.
This one is specifically the commands squads ride, so I decided to half track it; the rest will be 6x6 units, but blood and skulls' shop is closed til the 24th cause he's getting married this month, and it's his tire and axle sets I'll be using on the remaining tauroxs

stuck a spacer into the rear axle hub, and mounted the wheels on the front axles.

ok, so minor poll here.  since this is gonna be the one i use for the command squad and want it to be different from the other 3 i plan to build, i'll see what looks better.

the other 3 taurox are gonna be something like this, but with more cardstock work to make the back end a little longer either in just the wheel guards, or in the body as well:

personally, i like both the half track and the 4 wheel version.  it just comes down to "i don't have to paint the rubber tires, but i do have to paint the tracks."  i want it to look different, and both choices accomplish this.  its just this will be a one-off compared to the other three 6-wheelers i'll be planning to build.

I like the idea of a halftrack..... its just the taurox tread look like crap.

Maybe the trakks from a battlewagon????

Honestly, I'd do the 6 wheel extended cab for the command taurox, and leave the others as 4 wheel.

If you're extending the hull the 4 on back look.

The rest with the two sets of tires look great.

gonna need a nerf bar for that bish. or maybe a staircase made out of gardsmen on thier knees.

like i said, i left all the bits being painted metal off so i could paint it easier.  you'll notice there's a lot of details missing; like, exhaust, bull bar, ladders, exhaust headers, the guns...only about a 1/3 of the model

I have to say, painted red and with six wheels, that Taurox Prime can't help but make me think of another Prime...
