AV12 isn't bad on its own. It's bad here because of living metal (2+ ignore shaken, 4+ ignore stunned). It's bad on the Heldrake because of the Daemon Save (no need to jink) and Daemonic Posession (2+ ignore shaken/stunned)

Well the issue with AV12 is that most weapons with skyfire top out at str8 or so. So basically you have to glance it to death which means that bomber is probably going to get at least 1-2 of those suckers off. Probably won't be to much an issue, just the stats on that bomb is awesome. Perfectly being able to place a s10 ap1 template is boss.

4HP is a bit of a surprise to me. The stats on the bomb seem about right from what it is described as, with Blind being some nice icing. Where'd you find the stat line for this, Mark?

I'll admit I'm not all that familiar with bomber rules, do they not scatter or something? The point value does seem a scootch low to me, especially if it's 4 hp.

Bombs scatter d6. which is not the problem. The problem is that an almost unstoppable Flyer moves on the table 36 inches and drops a str 10 ap1 template on whatever it likes and the opponent has little to no tactical answer to it. Much the same problem as the helldrake. where you have an almost unstoppable flyer moving onto the table and putting a template wherever it wants... only instead of str6 ap3 ..these bombs wreck your land raider, terminators, and Instant-deaths most IC's....

To be fair, IF you are playing IA, the opponent has a plethora of options. (Sabre platforms, Mortis dreads, Hypernos launchers, IA flyers of their own, etc.)

Pure codex: little to no interceptor, skyfire on a limited number of weapons/units (My DA can put out 6 flakk missiles, an aegis quadgun, and a neph fighter at 2000 pts. One interceptor, and a bunch of one shots that tie up whole units in shooting)

IA: Tons of interceptor/skyfire options. tons of flyers. (With IA I can build a DA army with no flyers.... in which every unit has skyfire and half have interceptor.)

Unless IA puts out FAQS/updated IA books and soon, they are gettting overpowered.

Truth be told, it's the named dudes, Tessaract Ark, and Charnel Lichgaurd that really have my attention right now. I'll probably give the bomber a proxy spin at some point, just to give it a whirl.

Still, only one dice of scatter is kind of scary, though still not as surgical as the Death Ray. At the very least it's competing for the same slots as the other Str 10 AP 1 flier in the Necron force, keeping things from getting too stupid that way.

Competing for the other flyer with a str 10 ap1 gun right now.. Smile

Argh.. i think all the books are looking great these days.. necron flyers still grind me the wrong way still. A necron fix up and alot of people would be so happy! Or.. alot of people would be unhappy.

I guess the bomb could be ordinance.. still though.. itll wipe out units of multiwound models easily unless they are nurgle.marked or something. At least its expensive?

I love the new named HQs, though I'm sad that there still is no named Destroyer Lord. The Flensing Scarabs bit of wargear sounds nifty, but the Charnel Scarabs serve and ENTIRELY different role from their Canoptek brethren, dropping Entropic Strike to pick up Shred and Rending.

The Sentry Pylon just seems like a kick in the junk for anyone that isn't playing 'Crons.

I'm kind of surprised that the Tesseract Ark is getting 12/12/12. From the model I was expecting 12/11/11.

Acanthrites got bumped up 5 points a head, so that's good to see, at least.

The new Tomb beasties look fun, always a fan of Exile tech and Monsterous Creatures.

Charnel Lychgaurd -- Shred and Rage AND a Warscythe? Good thing these guys have the court cap to them.

Necrons still get no Battle Brothers, even with the Dark Havest, but it seems that only the named dudes and "Charnel"/"Maynarkh" stuff is limited to the Dark Harvest.

Necron Warlord table looks spiffy. No escape clauses or single use consumables like the Tau, but twin-linking get back up while sitting on an objective is just silly, and adding +1 Str to a single ranged weapon for the turn means things like a Str 10 Doomsday Ark, Str 8 TL Tesla Destructors, or Str 9 Heat Ray. The anti-slay the warlord trait just fits the army, I think.

Anyone else feel like they just phoned it in on the Sentry Pylon weapons? The Gauss Exterminator is just the Doomsday Cannon and two extra side arcs, and the Heat Cannon is just the Heat Ray.

With the better picture of the Tesseract Ark, we can see it's a Twin Linked Tesla Cannon, not Tesla Destructor.

Tomb Sentinel looks nice and blasty.

Still no sign of the named dudes yet.

Having had a bit of a better look into the book, it looks like the Dark Harvest will be able to ally with more than just other Necrons.  That said, the other factions they can ally with (SM, CSM, IG, and Orks) are all Desperate Allies.  Unfortunate, but I suppose it allows for options.
