Re: tau defenses
The current Eldar codex is fine. Not too overpowered. Star cannons have been fixed. Everything seems costed about right.

Most races pay 10 points for their meltaguns and 5 points for their meltabombs.

Re: tau defenses
You have to look at Fire Dragons in context. Chaos Havocs can have 5 meltaguns in a Rhino for way less points than 5 Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent. Fire Dragons on foot are not too good. The Eldar list has very specialized troops that cannot be evaluated individually.

10 fire dragonss with a heavy flamer can take on any unit in the game pretty much for a low cost of 180ish?Timbo wrote:You have to look at Fire Dragons in context. Re: tau defenses
On foot they can't do anything. In a Wave Serpent they can shoot a unit (kill some infantry or brutally overkill a vehicle) and then get shot or assaulted. T3 and a 4+ save makes them slightly tougher to kill than Imperial Guardsmen.

Re: tau defenses
I'd have to say Eldar don't need a new dex, they have plenty of good options available to them in 5th edition, everyone just wants the army they play to be updated, I mean I wish Tau was next on the list for an update, hell I wish Chaos Space Marines were coming out with a new dex ASAP, tau definitely need a new dex but they're not hurting as badly as necrons, I'd have to agree with Robyn that they need a new dex before anyone else. DE can still be played effectively, they're a fail race to begin with so people who play them are used to losing anyways, no point in changing things there lol. Demon hunters can be effective, I've only ever played against a grey knights army with sisters allies and a pure Grey knights army with 2 land raiders, but they're mediocre, definitely an uphill battle. Necrons can't compete anymore in my opinion, I mean even DE beat them, and that's not right! lol.

We're having a nice debate and then you have to get nasty. Can't we just all agree that Necrons suck? Except maybe Scarab Swarms that get a 2+ cover save...

Re: tau defenses
I have never beaten the Dark Eldar with a chaos marine army, they are nasty period.
The book is so damn old though that the rules are a little weird now.. but just based on regular rules they have alot of really strong options. I hate the models myself, and at their core they are elves which is .. well, you know.. and I have the theme of the army.
Maybe I hate them becasue I could never beat them. Dark Eldar is definitely one of those finess armies. If someone is playing them that are new, you'll destroy the army outright.. but if you get an experienced player with them.. ugh, it's a nightmare. When the new book comes out.. well, Im scared already.
