Nope, no 40K stuff for me either. I did get playstation stuff though so that's pretty cool.

So what did you get? Or was it immaterial stuff related to 40k, like the sudden awareness that Fantasy is better then 40k?
That would actually be a super sweet gift. I'll have to wrap that and put it under a few trees in '09!

Didn't you already get in trouble for saying and starting stuff like this on this forum before?
The ONLY thing I will give fantasy is Mordheim. I actually read the fluff out of the fantasy rulebook last month. I can't believe they wrote that crap.

Re: Best wishes
Mordheim is pretty weak by my reckoning.
Fantasy fluff is def. worse than 40k. I think the problem comes from trying to pretend all the myriad of races from Fantasy all exist as seperate societies within about 200 miles of each other. At least 40k you can just point at a far away part of the galaxy and say "Tyranids is from there".
At least Fantasy orcs aren't plants.
The game is far superior, and I hope 40k starts changing some of the fundamentals in future edition.

Re: Best wishes
Take this Gregg......big time thread hi-jack!!
I know 40k has its problems but to go and say fantasy is far superior?? I could argue with you all day about this, but I already know how thick-headed you are about it. Having played both games myself. I would definately say 40k is better, and more enjoyable for me. However, this one time, I will let you have your opinion.
You tell me how FOW is one of THE best rulesets you have ever played. It is very 40k like, FOW has the scale of the game better represented CC pinning etc. is more realistic and different, and there are more moral based testing otherwise very close.
Nice of you though to bash the game on its players forum.

No problem! The Bashings are free of charge!
The MAIN thing I love about FoW is that it plays great. If the mini's were as fun to paint as 40k I think 40k would die in this city very, very fast. What I desperately think 40k should adopt (and Fantasy as well for a lot of these...)
-Objective vs Points based. I know they've got objectives in 40k now but there's all this crap about scoring units and not scoring units to keep the game doing whatever it is they think the game is doing. If 40k played STRICTLY with the objectives and took away the points values of dead models to calculate victory I think the game would be at least 50% better. It really is a great rule.
-MORE morale tests and a more interactive game sequence. Right now if you get charged by an enemy you can't kill you just take it like a biatch. I lvoe the FoW rule that allows you to break off from any combat (at a great risk) or even means you may break off against your will if the dice demand it. Maybe Space Marines would actually be the gods of the battlefield if Morale tests and HtH combat decisions were introduced within the game and they had no modifiers to their LD? Maybe. I love it in FoW.
-Assaults are retarded. I can sit their in my dug in defensive postions with a platoon of guardsmen with laser rifles and some Khorne Whackjob from about 200 yards (????) game scale can zoom across the battlefield on his MOTORCYCLE (also retarded) and kill them all with the guardsmen apparently spending the time making peace with the emperor instead of laying down some defensive fire. Garbage.
-Rolling to hit based on how good your opponent is rather than your own skill. I think this is a great mechanic that really makes FoW play smoother and faster. You don't really have to know how good a shot your opponent is, you only need to keep track of your own stat line. Again, I'd like this to be accounted for. An Eldar Harlequin hopping around the battlefield may be hard as hell to hit with a lasgun but I think a lumbering horde of 30 greenskins marching on foot should be hit better then 50/50 by a guardsmen. If you transferred the to-hit roll to the opponent skill it opens up the decision making process I've found for FoW.
40k is COOL. Easily the coolest game universe in the biz. Better then anything out there. times two. The models are awesome, and with all the freedom from movement trays etc. their WAY more fun to paint then even my beloved fantasy. I wish I could love 40k, I want to desperately! I think it's a safe bet to say I own more models then a lot of the 40k community, and probably have more painted as well. It's just that the game is no good. At all. Fantasy has problems but rarely have I been left scratching my head about the goof ass rules like I wind up with for 40k.
So that's my take on it. You're welcome Ryan!
Love you too Greg!

Re: Best wishes
Such ignorance
Very close to all games of Fantasy (there are exceptions) I ended up thinking what fun is this? I find the game to be too easily abusable and too hero reliant. (I may have played in a different era however, here in Saskatoon but it sure made me dislike the game)
Read the 40k Rulebook (I at least, have read both) it should answer some of your complaints for you. 40k is definately more skirmish looking and orientated.
As for scoring units. The reason it was done is because they wanted to try and 'balance' armies for objective play (no more counting unit points by the way). FOW has what 4 or 5 armies, so they can get away with making different restrictions for different companies for all armies. 40k on the other hand, with how slow GW is and the amount of armies can make a book for each with the same composition rules (company rules) for all their armies.
Volunatarily falling back was done in 3rd edition, and was way too abusable in 40k
Overwatch 2nd edition, slowed the game down too much, they have tried to fix the ultra quick assaulting stuff with getting rid of sweeping into other units.
I agree with you on the rolling to hit. FOW is much more realistic and better.
Yah, go ahead and get your brag on about yourself, but I know you do NOT have more 40k painted than most of the community. You haven't been around for a 40k league night.
Again, maybe you should trash the game somewhere NOT dedicated to it - Thanks
