Re: Gamer's edition Codexes
I saw that the other day and was instantly intrigued.
I like my iPad a lot. A cheaper version of the codex with all the links in place so I can just click the special rule and it brings it up for me. No more cross referencing all the different pdfs I have on their (cuz apple products are so good at multi-tasking lol).
Might have to break down and get a couple. Still wish they'd just do a subscription thing though.

I hate Apple with a burning passion that threatens to consume my soul... That being said work just bought me an IPad so I can get familiar with the iOS. That being said it is a cheap way for a new player to get some codexs... So maybe I should use it...

Re: Gamer's edition Codexes
bought my ipad 2 years ago for school, best purchase ever for gaming
between ipad-only infinity and 40k apps, the ipad may not be the best device, but it has the best content.

Oh man, that's ALMOST enough to convince me to get an older ipad purely as a gaming aid.

don't go for an older unit ben. i have an older ipad 2 and i have issues with the newer stuff crashing it because the processor isnt the intended one that this stuff's made for. go ipad 3 or Air. Mini might be a good route too as they're cheaper, but you lose some valuable screen space.

Part of that is version of iOS as well I'd imagine. Are the two's capped at a version yet? The old first gen are stuck at 5.1 or w/e.
Also if you are going to invest in it you might as well get the nice one. The banks out in Rosetown were doing a promotion with the minis (open a chequing account and run x amount of dollars through it and get an iPad mini). So there were a bunch on the FB buy and sell for a bit there.
Really my only complaint so far about the iPad is the fact that the speakers are just on one side. Everything else i do with it is golden. It has a bunch of decent game apps (hello there Icewind Dale/ Final Fantasy remakes). It makes playing infinity about 10000 times easier with mayanet. Even with the pain that is switching between pdfs I don't have to carry any more 40k books.

Re: Gamer's edition Codexes
ipad 2's still update regularly; mine's in the 9.x series iOS. but the processor is alot older, so it craps out running stuff. i cant run Fallout shelter for example, crashes 45 seconds into the app. all the 40k games crash after 2 minutes. it loads all the iBook codexs fine, but it's a little slow doing it. kinda like comparing a win98 pc to a winXP machine.

iPad mini's are cheap and functional.
They usually run around $300

At that price I would consider just spending a bit more and getting the regular size. The mini seems like just a big phone to me. That extra inch or two makes all the difference (har har).

Just bought the Dark Angel codex. Interface is a little tricky at first but seems like its gonna be super useful. But now im almost out of excuses for not learning this game.

I still prefer hard-copy.
