J's Nurgle Units
HI everyone, here is just a general thread that I will post my painted models on, feel free to offer any critiques and advice you want
Please note that most of my models don't have the bases done as I prefer to do them for the whole army all at once.

Plague Marines:
This was my first attempt using rust, didn't turn out quiet like I would have hoped, but there's always next time.

Cultist time!
My own fluff: These cultists are based on an apothecary planet for the Empire, and now they've devoted themselves to Nurgle.

Thanks a lot
I've been painting on and off for about 8 years (but with like 2 year breaks). Used to just paint models I liked the look of in Warhammer Fantasy. These are by far the best models I've ever done.

Big Daddy Typhus.
Really happy with how his armour tones came out.

I like the softer looking green on the Typhus. Good stuff! I have to tackle one of those myself pretty quick.

I do plan on doing something with the bases, what that something is though.... I have no idea
Was probably going to do something pretty simple, badlands sand and dead grass. Doing the bases all pretty is something I've never really done

If you're pooling opinions I think if you're just going with plain paint on the base and not even a painted sand approach you're wasting your time. Decent gaming bases are cheap, easy, and quick to do. Leaving the bare ass plastic is shameful man! You can do better.

Re: J's Nurgle Units
That's a really good point Scott
I'd be lying if I said it had nothing to do with laziness, but the other main reason I don't do the bases is I just don't enjoy doing it.
BUUUUUT overall they would look a lot better with just something other than the plastic

Re: J's Nurgle Units
If you want a quick and easy fix to bases, there's always the option of painting the bases sand or rust, and getting the matching crackle technical paint from gw (agrax earth, Mars... Something?).
I personally prefer a bit more detail tho, really helps your model pop.
I can't recommend cork board enough. Just swing by Michaels and grab a pack of their cork board, thinnest you can find. Rip it up and super glue to the base.
Mix white glue with 1/4 water, and coat the flat areas of base, once you've glued on your model. Then, dip that bad boy in basing sand (you can get that from the den). Once it's dried, through another watered down coat of glue-water on top, and then voila! You have cool bases. To paint, just drybrush!
You can also always add bitz and gubbinz like ammo, helmets etc from your bitz box.
Trust me, a cool base adds 500% more to the look of your already well painted figs

Re: J's Nurgle Units
I second Paz's recommendation of cork board, the stuff is simply made of awesome when it comes to basing, and also brings you the option of pinning basing elements on if you are having trouble with getting the glue to hold them on.

Well I'll definitely have to go out and get some of this cork board then Thanks for the base suggestions, it makes it sound a lot less aggravating to do.

I'm all for some basing material and some grass clumps. Quick and easy.

Bases! I've finally done some bases!
Really happy with how the sludge/goo turned out
Also tried a new rust effect on the left most model's backpack.
