Khorne Daemonkin -first go
I had the chance to take the Khorne list for a spin this weekend.
Me and Mark never have normal games, so its hard to get a measure on how well the army did, although it did everything it was supposed to. I believe, due to crazy card draws, I had scored 13 points by the 4th turn and really.. i had to only actively pursue one card which gave me a 3 points for something i was gonna do anyway. The rest of the points were all free. So this being my first 7th game and first experience with the maelstrom missions, it was a bit bizarre.
I didn't summon to much with the blood tithe points.. save for a unit of Hounds, but i did give army wide Feel no Pain a few times. I had lots of cheap, disposable units but couldnt get up to Thirster levels, which unfortunately was my only strategy for dealing with armour.. save for two melta guns i had. The army moves really fast though and is really a lot of fun. Thumbs up from me, thats for sure. The nicest thing is i can hang up my heldrake for a bit.
My list was similar to the one i posted in arny lists. I took a Bloodhost detachment with Slaughtercult, Gorepack.and Charnel Cohort formations. Its a good book to be a khorne fan with.. although a new unit or 2 would of been cool.
Anyone else try a game with them yet.. or plan to?

I wondering how a pure World Eaters or kKhorne Daemon list would play.

I can see both doing ok. The really nice benefits though, like the Brazen Onslaught where your terminators get +1 attack.. are only given when combined with daemons. So the Onslaught needs Crushers, Gorepack needs bikes and hounds, etc.
However, i would definitely try a list with a lord, possessed, berserkers, cultists, heldrake, and then ally in a csm with Kharne, more zerkers and a dirged raider.
I think an all khorne daemon list would do just fine.. cheap troops, hounds are spectacular.. especially with no instability, and Sould grinders would be darn good. I like Bloodcrushers but that tgh 4 is hard to manage. Losing a hound to insta kill doesnt feel bad, but a bloodcrusher hurts.

The list I came up with is 2 thirsters, 2x3 bonecrushers, 3x16 bloodletters, and 2x10 hounds. Big bitch is I can do 4 FMC with the daemons list and you're stuck at 2 with the daemonkin. I imagine with a little creativity you could find a better 300 points than the crushers.

I don't think this book is designed to be pure marines or pure daemons. you miss out on huge buffs by not taking the formation (2 blood tithe boons? yes plz!) and you don't get units/wargear the factions get from their core book making it more a penalty to focus on one.

I've had one game with them so far (and first of 7th Ed!)
Absolutely a blast to play. And great way to get some of the coolest units from two codex's in one!
I usually used fnp with my blood tithe points, though in the final two turns, as my army got churned up by ben's grey Knights I summoned 2 additional bloodletter packs to grab hold of them objectives.
Won me the game!

Well! Had my second game with the blood tithe of death! 1300 pts, vs Brian's Eldar/harlequins.
Luck was on my side this game, but once again, late game bloodletter summoning pretty much won me the game. heck, the blood tithe mechanic totally won me the game.
being able to bring in 8 man squads of troops towards endgame is just the best.

The tears of isha flowed greatly that game! ^^ Squads of 8 demons dont seem like much but when they deepstrike onto objectives and force you to commit shots or attacks onto them or risk losing the game, they pay forthemselves. Especially since killing a unit of them puts two more points back in the blood tithes jar.... i also misplayed my new harelquin units perrty badly so im sure that was a factor. Also i hate the evil chariot thing, i want an eldar chariot.... But in the end it was one of the most fun games ive played in a long time and i look forwards to the rematch Paz

Word dude! Much laughter and the silly suicide of khorne was had. Even when you're losing with khorne, you're really winning

I agree.. its been alot of fun. I havent fielded a thirster yet.. but i may end up skipping it. However.. im seriously debating 1 maulerfiend for sure.

Re: Khorne Daemonkin -first go
Is it true flesh hounds are gonna be in 50mm bases?
Ive got.all mine on old rectangle bases.. but id.like to switch em to round. I was thinking of using the bikes bases.. but if the box is going 50mm .. ill switch em to that. Gw store is out of stock on new flesh hounds.. which is great.

Yeah, looks like 50mm, if you compare the pics in the daemonkin book. Makes sense, they're supossed to be pretty massive

thinking of going with daemonkin
Hey system commander and paz, I'm thinking about making a Daemonkin army. Currently, I'm torn between making a Renegades and Heretics army with Chaos Space Marine Allies, or going for Khorne Daemonkin. Khorne is what originally got me into warhammer 40k, so I would love to get back to Khorne. Since 6th edition and the assault nerfs, I gave up on Khorne berzerkers and my two defilers. To make matters worse, all three of my friends play Eldar. Here is a list I've come up with. I'd be interested in hearing what you think about it, whether or not it could compete with Eldar, what you might change, etc.
From Daemonkin
Slaughtercult
HQ
Chaos Lord 75 axe of ruin 60
Troops
X10 csm x2 melta 180 rhino 35
X8 khorne berzerkers 162 (in land raider)
rhino 35 (with csm)
X10 cultists 58
X10 cultists 58
Elites
X5 possessed 150 rhino 35
X3 terminators x3 combi melta 110
Heavy Support
Soulgrinder phlegm 165
Soulgrinder phlegm 165
Land Raider 235
Chaos Space Marines Allied Detachment
HQ
Kharn 160 (in land raider)
Troops
X5 csm plasmagun 90 (in rhino)
Heavy Support
X3 obliterators 210
Total: 1980 (not sure where to put the last 20 pts)
My daemon models are limited. I only have 20 bloodletters and a bloodthirster. I figured it'd be best to keep them off the list and try and summon them and use the bloodthirster with the axe of ruin.
I put the Chaos Lord with axe of ruin in the rhino with the possessed, and Kharn and Khorne Berzerkers go in the Land Raider. I want to deepstrike both soul grinders and the obliterators. My reasoning for the soul grinders is because I can never really hide them anyways and I really really want to see them smack a tank in close combat. Obliterators I think should deepstrike because normally I have a hard time getting any vision with them running behind my tanks. Anyways let me know what your thoughts are.
