helical targeting array
The units that have this say they grant skyfire and interceptor if stationary. So in 7th, Raw, if stationary, they can only snapshot at ground target, correct?

Re: helical targeting array
as i understand it, if its the unit, and not the weapon, that has skyfire and interceptor, they 'choose' if they use the rules when firing or not.
case in point, storm talons; these have skyfire in the unit's special rules, not on its weapon profiles. its allowed to choose if it uses it or not, allowing it to fire at full BS at both ground and air targets. (and aside, has an additional special rule that makes it become +1BS vs most ground units)
helical targeting arrays are supposed to be a purchasable upgrade to allow this to happen on certain ground units, IIRC. so you should be full BS always against all targets if you stay still, but if moved, your full vs ground, but snap shot vs air.

Re: helical targeting array
The rule you're referring to is part of the flyer rule. That's why stormtalons choose. If I missed it someplace else, pg ref?
HTAs aren't an upgrade, default equipment on all Mortis pattern dreads (including Contemptors), which have always been a completely seperate unit entry.

Re: helical targeting array
You have the right of it Beau.
Flyers are allowed to choose at the start of the shooting phase if they would like skyfire or not.
Since you don't have the option to turn on/off your targeting array if you want to fire at ground targets you have to move. Although you can do the 1" shuffle so not a big deal.
