June 2014 - Tom Builds a Forgefiend

Just what it says on the tin. I'm going to be converting up a Forgefiend, using the Dread Knight chassis as a base. Time permitting I might get in on the second 'Fiend based on what was left over from the original kit.

Current plan: Build a Dread Knight most of the way, replacing the forearms with Hades Autocannons and adding the Helbrute front plate where the baby-on-board Terminator would live. The Heavy Psicannon gets mounted on the shoulder/neck space to be the optional Ectoplasma Cannon. Plan is to paint it up like the rest of Raine's Iron Warriors.

The lighting is kinda horrible, and the fact that the Helbrute I'm using for parts came partially primed black doesn't exactly help matters, but at the very least this should help to show where I'm trying to go with this.

I like where this is going

Them's some long arms. You might also call them Heavy.



Still hyming-and-hawing as to where to mount the Ectoplasma cannon now that the 'Brute plate has been attached. If I go towards the shoulders it might interfere with the hydralics. If I go in the middle I'll probably miss out on modeling a green stuff spine to continue from the 'Brute plate. I could have it come out of the face-hole, though.

actually pretty impressed with the hellbrute/defilter mix. especially the feet. will be interesting to see the end product.

Got a bit more work done on the forge fiend today. Started with try out something a bit new, using tin-foil to cover abdominal gaps so that I can pretty it up with less green stuff later.



Also started dealing with the gaping arm sockets on the autocannons.



And started work on it's basing. Rhino to be painted up ala Imperial Fists.

Curse these weekend and almost always being out of town for them! Almost ready to hit things with primer. Going to have to be a quick paint job.

Finally getting some paint on this guy.

Trying at work to get some foliage to stick to the basing, but with little success. Once I get home I'll be subbing in Green Stuff for my adhesive of choice, since it will provide greater surface contact. No idea how to upload photos straight off my phone, and the computer at work doesn't want to grab files off of it, either, so the photo update will have to wait until I'm off my shift.

Just need to do some touch ups with a bit of Mournfang Brown and I'd call the basing good to go.

Still plenty of room to do more work on it, but it is fieldable at this point.
