While you can not ally with your own faction , you can take as many detachments as you want as long as they follow the force org..
so i could have

csm d-1
1 hq
2 troops

csm d-2
1 hq
2 troops

so while you can not use an allied detachment to of the same faction you can have 2 reg detachments of the same faction.
