Yeah man, at this point you gotta hunker down and read those rules .
Also, 7th is coming out at the end of the month, so some changes will be happening.

You know, I had been hoping to run an all-canoptek army led by a Cryptek at some point, but I didn't think it would be realized by the optional status of the FOC.

It is indeed a 5th Ed softcover codex, but with it being the last codex of that edition, it was written largely with 6th edition in mind, with flying transports and everything.

Ehhhhh yuck city. How is the chaos marines these days? I've been planning on a Emperor's Children themed army.

Chaos is firmly in "alright" currently, but it has potential to get pretty silly when mixed with Daemons. Emperor's Children should do alright, as Mark of Slaanesh is one of the two current "good" marks in the current codex, at least in my assessment.

Sounds good, I'll put my necrons on halt for now till I'm up to date with the new codex for them, and catch up on the Chaos marines. Can you "hit and run" with them. I noticed those Nurgle bikers.

I don't recall seeing that particular USR anywhere in that book. Nurgle bikers are solid though, being T6 and moving 12" in a turn. Need to finish building/painting mine, come to think of it. What to do with the basing...

Add some chains, and have the bikers dragging behind some poor fellow.

Nope, no hit and run. Raptors used to have it.. 6 years ago.
I really wouldn't put necrons as 5th edition codex. It came out maybe two months before 6th.. and was definitely written for it. Everything has a use in it.. except for maybe flayed ones? Grey knights was the same way I felt.. was good for 5th but really took advantage of a lot of 6th edition changes.

Now I am curious, if you use glue and you put say say a las gun on one unit and in a game you need to change it to a bolt gun is it allowed to do this, especially in tournaments, or are people like you put that on the unit that is what you have to use unless you physically remove it?

Friendly games wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) is fairly lenient (as long as you only try stuff out, your regular army should have correct stuff) but, unless you magnetize your stuff, it's a good idea to have wysiwyg for tournaments, or you'll get a bad rap, Matt Kerr style.

Who is Matt Kerr?
I was looking at the noise marine conversion on GW, the Chaos Space Marines Noise Marines Upgrade Pack. Sadly it looks like that is just one unit's worth of an upgrade.

If the whole unit had sonic blasters but you had tnem modelled with bolters.. a friendly game mught be ok. Not a tournie though, they are vastly different weapons. If would be bad though if you had 10 guys and only 4 had sonic blasters and you had to remind your opponent all the time who had them.. that would ne annoying. Better off just modellong how your gonna play them.. or magnetize them.
