biggest concern is lack of models on table turn 1. turn 2 things get fun.

Right, but if your opponent goes first, he has to kill 1 priest 10 assault marines and a vindicator for a first turn win.

Thats two shots from a D weapon unless your carefull with your placement. i dont remember if mark made them ignores cover as well as str 10 ap1 superbane.

I think a full wipe out only occurs after a full game turn, but I could be wrong lol

At the end of your own turn, IIRC.

game turn. That's why you can have a full drop pod list and go second.

cost of pods + coteaz as allies for everyone

There are a handful of armies that can deal quite will with it. Also the other half of your army tends to come in piecemeal.

Blood Angels do the drop pod Assault awesomely.
Normally a pod is 35pts as a dedicated.
Blood Angel Assault squads can choose to not take jump packs. If they don't take jump packs they can choose any BA dedicated transport to take instead and get a 35pt reduction on its points, therefor making the pods free... Rhinos are then 15pts, Razorbacks are 20pts.
That's why the razorspam lists were broken back in 5th, it was too easy to take them. Now transports suck. lol

I always understood the army wipe out rule to be if at any time you have no forces left on the table, and up until last tournament when I learned that its end of game turn, not player turn (or however the wording is) that the light bulb clicked on... since then I picked up my 3rd pod, I'm very eager to use it....

Just thought I would double check. And under victory conditions it says "Likewise, if at the end of any game turn, one player has no models on the battlefield, his opponent automatically wins". Tada!


Minor quibble.

Transports are still really good in 6th. The thing they are bad at is assaulting out of them. However their usefulness in reducing damage to scoring units is amazing. Especially in an edition where 5/6 of the standard missions require scoring units to win. About the only thing that is still super effective is that dumb helldrake since it has decent odds at killing a transport and then using its burning diarrhea on the unit that jumps out.

Yup... I'm an assaulty army, therefor a have come to hugely dislike xports.
Then again, I don't own a land raider (assault vehicle)... I do have a storm raven, but, I have to build my list around it to make it viable assault based due to it having to enter hover mode to deploy stuff... so, if im lucky I *could* get a turn 3 assault from it, but, its usually been closer to turn 4....

I like to Take an assault squad in a drop pod, but place the squad in the raven and have the pod land empty... Tends to work well the few times ive used that tactic.

too bad in the list above, I can't load my BAs into the raven It specifically says Codex:Space Marines can use it as a xport....

Field it as a Storm Eagle i doubt many would know the difference to look at it, haha

Thinking of maybe trying to sub out the Skyhammer missiles on the talons for lascannons, but would need to find a mysterious amount of points to dock from the list to make that happen... And if I did swap to LCs, then I would change the AC on the Raven to an LC as well. Might do that anyways, just right now that's a LOT OF BS5 AC shots!
