Re: Rules
outriders are 30k biker squads. they get to do neat wargear choices;
the entire squad replaces their TL Bolters for:
TL flamers (15pts per model in unit)
TL Meltaguns (25pts per model in unit)
TL Plasmaguns (25pts per model in unit)
one in every 3 models can swap their chainsword for a power weapon @10pts, or their bolt pistol for a hand flamer (10pts) or plasma pistol(10pts).
they also come with the Scout rule.

interesting.
So, in a normal game they wouldn't be allowed then? I hear all this "no 30k" stuff on the forums here (maybe just for tournaments)

30k is a forgeworld created system.
Right now they have only the heresy era space marinw armies... no other races.
The books a re amazing.. and of course primarchs. You havent seen any of the primarch rules?

Re: Rules
No I haven't. Does Sanguinius have rules? *crosses fingers*
If I were to get some of these sexy looking bikers at some point, would I have to use them as reg bikes from my chapter, or could I use the FW rules for them? Or only if the game I was playing "allowed 30k" ?

Re: Rules
30k is a bit of a different beast, but so long as your opponent knows it's coming it's not too bad, I don't think.

Re: Rules
30k is clearly balanced against itself.
It's fun, crossover games are fun, the models are gorgeous, but mixing 40k and 30k in a tournament is a non-starter for me.

Re: Rules
The whole ruleset is completely different.. youd have to use them as bikes from your book.
You can play a 30k list against 40k.. but.. its fairly different. If the 30k player brings out the good stuff.. its a tough battle. If hes playing it easy it should be fine. I played Dan with a 30k Iron Hands list and it was fine.
No Sanguinus yet. Angron, Fulgrim, Ferrus, and Lorgar have models so far. There are rules for a bunch more though.. Horus, Mortarion, Conrad.. hmm, is that it so far?

Re: Rules
My opinion (for what its worth)
A regular marine dex list is on average a 5.... can be dialed up to 7-8.
A HH list averages a 5.... but some of the wacky stuff piled up can make it a 10+.
When you get your hands on the list look it over, you can likely make something fun from it.
I'm not sure how well it meshes with std 40k as a whole. I've seen no issues, and I don't see how it can be worse that anything from the std codecii, but it has sorta the same effect you mentioned playing the new Tau- "they can do WHA??!?!"
