Khorne on the Khob
I have about 600 pts of Khorney goodness sitting around, just never figured out a list to build up to.
Think this would be decent. Models in bold I have

Re: Khorne on the Khob
Bloodcrushers get insta-gibbed by S8.
2xGreater Gifts on the Prince is cool, or take a blood thirster and move the Prince to Heavy
Edit: Was typing on the iPad...
Anyway, if you drop the Bloodcrushers for a Bloodthirster, take two greater rewards on both (or one exalted, one greater on one) and move the Prince to Heavy, it's a pretty solid list.
Exalted Rewards include the ridiculous sword, rift bringer thingy (I kill stuff and make guys!), or the Portal Glyph... it's a pretty solid roll for a Blood Thirster or Daemon Prince. Greater Rewards include the 4+ FNP, or the +1 Wound and IWND.
You don't need extra speed with the flesh hounds on the board, and blood letters scattering on a deep-strike isn't "that" big a deal (just give them a bit of space, then run).

Re: Khorne on the Khob
The "good" version of the list is 2 GD instead of the DP and Heralds. I'm just making it work with what I got. Although the point diff between the DP and GD is minimal (I think 20 pts)
Quite honestly, the points for Gifts are currently place holders, I have to read thru them some more.
I'm hoping most will view the Hounds and DP as a big threat, also both units of Hounds and one of Juggers have scout, due to IC shenanigans.
I think this is about as good as it would get for pure Khorne, and a complete 180 from my DA.

Hmmm I think either would work. Likely build the first one and then see about switching to the Double GD, (either version).

Re: Khorne on the Khob
Ive played a few all Khorne daemon lists and they are definitely tough army to work with.
Ive used the Bloodthirster and 4 Herald route, and they are darn scary. Heralds on Juggernauts with a greater and lesser reward are a great investment. They can give a unit of hounds or bloodletters hatred, which is really handy becasue you're going to lose alot of guys getting them into assault. I think a unit of 3 crushers with Skulltaker on Jugg, and 2 Heralds be great. Getting the Grimoire for them would also be fantastic. You can take the hatred power, they are toughness 5 now, and hopefully getting a 3+ invul. I'd be running this unit but Ive only got 4 Juggers right now. Once you get acorss the table you can split those guys up to go after some squishy targets as well.
Which of course is the worst thing, getting them into assault. Going across the table.. no problem..! They move nice and fast or can close the distance quick with wings or deep striking. Its the whole.. eat a round of gunfire, assault.. eat overwatch (I just dont think the cannons are worth it, but Ive never tried) , then hope you roll enough (usually through difficult terrain) to get there. And then.. whatever you do.. dont lose combat!
Its fun to play with, Ill give it that. I played an all Khorne list (Sorry, I had 1 unit of plaguebearers) against Marks Tzeentch. He mopped the table with me, but I definitely made a couple stupid mistakes. I got a bit rattled though after my Sqaud of 10 hounds with herald on a juggernaut assault his chariot. I did a wound, he did two back. I rolled instability and got boxcars. It was a downhill turn from there.. which is to bad because I had great defense against his psykers. Hounds deny on a 4+, Karanak was with a big blob of bloodletters giving them 4+ deny as well, plus his anti psyker abilities.
Anyway, past that.. I think Khorne Daemons work awesome with Chaos marines though. Ive played some Khorne lists with a Bloodthirster, a couple Daemon Princes, Khorne Lord on Jugg, Berserkers, Landraider, Helldrake and some cultists and it can work well. Just a schwack of things moving fast towards you.
If you ever want to have a Khorne on Khorne show down, let me know!

Re: Khorne on the Khob
What about soul grinders? They are pretty good. I think this list would be pretty fun and you could have some amazingly gore filled 2nd turns. I think fitting in a grinder or 2 to ds as the hounds, heralds, and thirster arrive would be awesome.

Re: Khorne on the Khob
Soul grinders are great . Personally.. i really think if you want to go khorne its about getting into hand to hand fast and daemon princes, bloodthirsters and hounds barelling.down are gonna cause some havoc.
If you replace princes with grinders it doesnt seem as scary and now the anti tank stuff has a dedicated target.
But... i can definitely see where a grinder would come i handy

Re: Khorne on the Khob
I agree but its not like the av13 is weak by any means. Toughness 5 with 3+/5++ is really not that tough and probably falls to that same anti tank. I'd rather take a ton of str7 shots (which seem so popular these days) onto that av13 than onto a t5 model. Also the points difference opens your options for more blood letters, and banners and instruments.

But.. hes flying !
I do think soul grinders are great in nurgle/tzeentch lists.. for all khorne i really think you have to throw as much fast moving stuff at em quick to have a chance. If your gonna go assaulting.. go all out!

Re: Khorne on the Khob
I think Robyn nailed it, the goal is to get em krumpin' somthing fast.
This'd be a "go second" list, as the idea is to use scout moves, the beasts mobility and the FMCs speed to get locked in with something ASAP, then summon in the bloodletters (and attached heralds) for backup/cleanup/obj holding on turn 2. Its more a matter of HOW to do so. I think both methods work (Marks idea to ditch the Bonecrusher and take more FMC, and keeping it as is to get the teleport homer effect off DS.) Youre thinking something like this mark?
1750 Pts - Chaos Daemons Roster - Khorne 1750
Total Roster Cost: 1750

14 Bloodletters of Khorne, 150 pts = 14 * 10 (base cost 10) + DG: Instrument of Chaos 10

The Bloodthirster list is cheaper by about $40 ( I plan to use Balrogs as Bloodthirsters, and Belakor for my DPs). I think the Heraldy list if friendlier, if only because not so many FMCs.

Seems good. I still like 40-50pts of rewards per FMC though.

Drop a DP, max out rewards. Add bloodletters to make up leftover point's.

Or drop a unit of Bloodletters. Remember the Portal Glyph can solve most scoring issues. It pumps out scoring units.Roland wrote:Drop a DP, max out rewards. Add bloodletters to make up leftover point's.

Are you limited to 1,greater daemon? Both battlescribe and army builder are saying I'm limited to 1 but I can't see anything in the codex.

Pretty sure you can have two bloodthirsters... lemme double check...Roland wrote:Are you limited to 1,greater daemon? Both battlescribe and army builder are saying I'm limited to 1 but I can't see anything in the codex.
I don't see any "Unique" constraints... Take two!
Exalted rewards include....
0. Hellforged Artifacts (you can pick one of these if you don't like your roll. Includes the Portal Glyph, the Book, +D3 Attacks sword, and doomstone (it sucks, which is why you've never heard of it))
1. Roll again on this table and once on the lesser table (free 10 point gift! could be the flamer thingy, or a free Etherblade, potentially +1 more attack!)
2. Riftbringer, after you kill stuff in combat, roll 2D6 and add one for every 3 unsaved wounds. If you roll a 9 or better, free unit of Dudes deepstrike in!
3. Souleater, you hurt something in an assault? Get a wound back on a 2+ Kachow!
4. Frenzy, Rage + Rampage (blech, I think 'thirster has it already)
5. Warp Teather, You die? Well, go into ongoing reserves and come right back (with only 1 wound tho).
6. Winds of Chaos, oh hai, I suck and ... take a Hellforged Artifact instead.
