Car Pool to some random event sometime?

Hey,

I wouldn't mind carpooling to some event somewhere sometime. All we need is an event and people able to go. Depending on how many people, I can drive. I was thinking anything in Manitoba, Alberta, or Sask... Anyone know of an event we can go to and represent Saskatoon?

There used to be soooooo many. Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Regina, PA, Winnipeg, Brandon.. And now not much. Dan and Andrew just went to Brandon but I havent heard anything from other places.

Calgarys Armageddocon used to be awesome..

I blame GW 100% for tournament dissapearance.

With westjets flight to chicago.. id be game for adepticon one year.. but have to plan pretty far in advance.

I would be game with carpooling to events. Even going to adepticon in Chicago (can even visit family while I'm there )

Astro winnipeg is usually in the summer as i recall. A group trip would certainly make the trip a lot less dull.

I wouldn't want to travel to the states out of fear of our stuff being taken by the border guys.

Edit: I couldn't do the Brandon trip due to the Mini-FoS this weekend.

Well I've flown with 40k stuff before. I don't think I (or my brother/friends) have ever had an issue. I haven't happened to drive across the border, but my parents have after I first moved here and again didn't even register to the border guards.

Astro-Peg was in Feb aparently, Astro YYZ is the weeekend of July 20th.

Didn't GW used to have a calaender that showed this sorta thing? Everything I found was for 3 stores in Cali.

Funny business aside, i'm down for whatever comes up in this regard, winnipeg is a hole of a city, but there seems to be a thriving game community, and i'm always up for either Edmonton or Calgary.

I remember going to Winterpeg with some jabronis, one of them being on this board. The event sucked and Winterpeg is a swamp but I still had a good time.

Heis's driving tape flying out the window was the highlight of the weekend.

Try going through customs with a battlefoam bag as your carry on. I think 3 different people had to try and figure out what the image was in the metal detector. only one metal model and its kharn perfectly posed facing the camera. And then the laughter at that was made back trying to explain what adepticon was to a customs agent and how the hell I spent so much money on plastic.

Jesse: open the bag. Tell them what it is and you get few questions.

In travel I never had issue with models (except when the flight attendants told me the bag wouldn't fit in the overhead, I showed them it did)

Somehow my magic cards often make problems. The X-ray machine cannot penetrate through them or something.

As for events though, I'd be down for driving down to places with enough advanced notice.

I think youd find it really easy to get a group together to go.. the only problem is theres barely anything happening close to us. 

Prariecon and Astro are gone. They had Grotscon again a little while ago in Red Deer. I dont think anything has ben happening in regina. 

Edmontons and Calgary are the odd spots. Calgary still has a big community and regular pkaying at Sentry Box.. but I havent heard about any tournies for awhile. That being said.. im sure they still must have.somethong. Fallcon is still kicking.but i couldnt figure out if they were doing 40k. Edmonton has a lot of stores.. but the.only tournie Ive ever heard about was lkke 4-5 years ago.. Tim Miller went and I believe he was 1 of 4 guys.

Mayday (edmonton) was in ... May.

Grotscon was April. 

Gonna get ahold of Rob who used.to run all the big events in Calgary and see if anything is happening. Imnow he still does some game organization.
