plastic quality

So i bought that "bag of 80 figurines" Warzone pack that can be found on ebay and a couple other places. I'm going to use them as traitor guard.

I have to say that the quality, detail, materials, and value are just fantastic. Even just the plastic used feels like better quality than GW puts out. I paid about $25 including freight for these and they put GW models to shame.

Are these the ones? They're pretty horrible looking from the pics.

Those are the ones. the paint on them and pictures don't do them justice. they are 6 piece models, and each one comes in 3 slightly different poses, so there is some customization possible. for $0.25 a fig, they are quite usable.

On top of that its a 20 year old sculpt. Compare these to 2nd edition plague marines... and yeah.

anyway, i'm mostly commenting on the fact that they are so cheap, the materials are good, and the models are passable and easily convertible into guard, traitor or otherwise. to purchase the equivalent in troopers would be $280 from G-dub.

There's always cheaper alternatives to GW. If you're just talking value in terms of plastic to money then the new Dark Vengeance and Island of Blood actually rate pretty well.

Mantic makes some cheaper alternatives, there's stuff out there. I wouldn't mind buying a couple of these off you to see how they are in the hand if you're interested.

I'll just spot you a couple. I've only really got plans for the one side and the commissar looking dudes for now.

speaking of mantic and quality models, here's the solution to plague zombies:
35 zombies for $45

That is an awfully convenient sized kit.

isn't it? 2 kits gets you your 70 zombies for those nasty uber plague zombie lists. helluva lot cheaper than buying and converting cultists or guardsmen.
