Kairos Fateweaver
My fevered imagination is starting to contemplate the Fateweaver.
300 points. Yowza.
T5, boo.
5 Wounds? Some redemption.
WS1 ick.
BS6 that's cool.... wait wait, that's really cool! (as he's guaranteed the AP1 blast power from Change)
4++ save
He's so many points
===
Anyway, what I'm wondering is... the Staff of Tomorrow gives you one re-roll per turn (any die, even one out of a multiple set, 2D6, or one of the two D66 Champion of Chaos dice). One re-roll per turn is one during my turn, one during my opponents.
Things that seem cool to re-roll ====
A Psychic Test die that results in Perils (1 from snake-eyes, 6 from box-cars)
A Champion of Chaos Spawn or Dark Apotheosis Result (the "2" or the "6")
A Critical Armour Save (Instant Death for a Character)
A Grounded Check for a FMC
A D6 from a failed leadership check
Twin-linking a multi-melta from your oblits
The lowest die on a failed charge
Anything else you can think of? Then, is it worth 300 points?

Re: Kairos Fateweaver
I think his true power is the choice of 12diferent phyc powers every turn
And he could do a 5d6 flickering fire at bs6 . He could even reroll one of those d6

You can only spend up to 3 Warp Charge points on Flickering Fire. 4D6 with a re-roll is respectable though! He'd be very effective against both heavily armoured troops, lightly armoured troops, and bunched up vehicles.... That's everything, right? The best Deny the Witch you'd get is 5+ (I guess 4+ with Adamantium Will)
300 points is quite hefty. How good is that re-roll... Having played a Chronometron on my Necrons, I know the power of a re-roll... This re-roll is only once per turn (as opposed to once per phase), but it's any roll I'd make on the table. It could be quite powerful.

Re: Kairos Fateweaver
If he flies, I would say he is probably worth it. At the start of 6th I was flying my Lord of Change around the field, and I think he was like 290 pts.
The mobility that FMC grants matched with 360 view with a HUGE payload of powers makes for a great unit!
Just make sure he doesn't get caught!

I imagine your going to be using that reroll to not crash into the ground from quad gun hits.
Hes expensive. but hes versatile. versatility is worth a lot. Same reason why obliterators are so good. Ask yourself if Kairos is going to put out as much damage as 4 obliterators. or be as versatile. 8 wounds, 2+5++ 4 shots a turn from a variety of weapons, deep strike. power fists. i dunno.

Re: Kairos Fateweaver
Good point Mike.
I was thinking in my brain that the single-die re-roll would help with Psychic shenanigans and also allow use of the Boon of Mutation with substantially less risk. (re-roll the tens die 2 or 6 if I roll 21,22,65,66 | Although, getting a 65 or 66 on the Tzeentch Aspiring Sorcerer might be good)
Did you guys notice that the Daemon Prince spawned by Dark Apotheosis has Power Armour? I didn't until just recently.

Mike: It also depends on how many HS slots you've used already.....

Re: Kairos Fateweaver
i guess he would make a good ally HQ for an oblit heavy CSM army.
go 2x lv 1 sorc HQ's from CSM,
load up on oblits,
fateweaver,
whatever is good from the Daemons codex in Heavy support.
fill with horrors and cultists.
win.
