Daemonic Allies question
Heralds....
"Each primary detachment in your army may include up to four Heralds of Chaos, chosen in any combination from the following models:
- Herald of Khorne, Skulltaker, Karanak, Herald of Tzeentch, The Changeling, Epidemius, Herald of Nurgle, Herald of Slaanesh
This selection uses a single HQ slot from the force organisation chart, but the Heralds are otherwise treated as separate units."
So, if you take an allied detachment, no heralds for you. No Changeling, no Epidemius, etc...
I believe I'm reading that right...

Also, no taking heralds in both slots (8 total). Looks like if you want 2 HQ's you need a greater deamon or whatnot.

True, you could take 8 in a 2000 point game.
For a Primary Daemon force, 4 Tzeentch Heralds at lvl 3 rolling on Divination is kinda alright. That's 16 rolls on Divination. Think of all the misfortune... I'd be tempted to roll twice on Divination and once on change.

I'm kinda stuck right now between not buying any Daemons, grabbing a Lord of Change and some stuff, or just getting a Daemon army.
I like the concept of putting 60 Pink Horrors on the board... but Sara might charge me a testicle to start a new army. I could always get the Lord of Change, 20 pink horrors, and a burning chariot.
Lord of Change at lvl 3 with a Grimoire of True Names (to make my Tzeenchy Oblits or Mutilators 2++) is a beefy 285 points. S/T 6 and 5 wounds. +20 points for +1STR and Mastercrafted, might make it worth while to vector strike flyers.
Regular Tzeentchy Daemon Prince can get 3+ armour, but can't roll on Divination (if he's a psyker), but can grab the Eternal Blade for 30 pts (+D3 Weaponskill, Initiative, and Attacks in Close Combat)

Re: Daemonic Allies question
i'm probably missing something in the math for your div spells.
4 heralds. 1 mandatory change spell. 2 rolls on divination eachs = 8? horrors can only roll on change table.... I cant imagine that you'll escape the mandatory change spell on your GD's/heralds. . so i'm not seeing where the 16 div rols come from?
EDIT. nm, your talking 2000 point games. so double force org.

I did the exact same math Mike.
I will laugh when you play against my Tau/Eldar with Runes of Warding =P

Doesn't look like a roll on Change is mandatory. (unless I missed that part)

Do they have a way to avoid perils?

No, but all Tzeentch Daemons gain +3 LD for psychic tests. So Daemon princes, Horrors, LoC, Kairos, Changeling, and Heralds all roll on Ld10
