I think option 1 puts out more firepower, but lacks anything to stop a DeathStar (or even a DeathStarLite) unit. A D-Lord/Wraith, Thundernator, or even something considered as weak as Nobbikers will roll thru them.
Option 2 I've got a couple of hammer units, but I have to be careful, because they are my scoring as well.
I tried the Neph, I really did. I honestly feel if you make the Blackswords Str 7, AP 4 it gets a lot better... but it is in no way worth 180 points. But it still looks better than a Stormtalon.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Been running option 2 for a bit. lately been having issues. unsure if its the list or my shitty generalship.
my deployment has stunk. im leaving the vehicle too spread out and out of cover. i tend to have very little lwft armpr wise after turn 3.
im being too ballsy with the DW. the one squad has scattered a lot, and when they dont, im too deep and cant aupport them.
what can i tweak/massive change to make it better. or is the list fine and i need to play it better.

Well the few times we faced the problem was your terms were unsupported after there assault, if you could hold them off till the second turn it might help

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
I'm not sure I like either.
One thing I try to watch when I build a list is First Blood. Am I coughing up first blood, if I do, is it okay that I do. If I'm playing Orks, first blood is nice to have, but not a necessity. In a marine list, it's a necessity to get first blood. You can't be coughing it up with Rhino's and Razorbacks.
Using either of those in an Angles list requires some protection. Either a field on foot, or putting them in reserve.
I do like the Mortis dreads and the Predator.
Some Ravenwing Black Knights would really help make a co-ordinated strike force. Terminators as troops are still good, and that terminator command squad (with that crazy blade) is kinda worth trying too Beau.
(Apothecary, Blade guy, banner of some flavour, Belial)
A pair of scoring terminator units, maybe some tacticles and some ravenwing dudes. Maybe a Librarian in termy armour that rolls twice on divination?
It looks to me like you're writing a Dark Angels list that's really a vanilla marine list.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Part of that is the point level:)
hmmm
Termie Librarian +30 points
Drop all tacts (-340)
Add DW Command sqd +320
drop the speeders? -150
Leaves 140 to spend.
BK Squad is 143. I think there was some wiggle room in the list.
Concerns... obvs the fact i'm at 2 scoring.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
funny how the worst part of any space marine list at the moment is the marines... and their rides.
preds dreds and termies are all good. i think mark is right on the DW though, zero point in paying for scoring terminators unless your going to focus on them.
I would probably take 3 preds, the 2 dreds, and a unit or two of bikes with a stick, wait for turn 2, then DS as many terminators onto the board as you can in the same area via a banner. the preds should last long enough for your reinforcements to arrive, and then when they do, they can try to dominate a section of the board?
get an aegis line to hide your preds and dreds behind then maybe walk on some el cheapo marines to take backfield objectives?
i dont like command squads much, i would probably just focus on scoring DW squads.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Why not take a Powerfield Generator on the Libby if you're having trouble losing too many vehicles turn 1? Granting a 4++ to everything within 3 inces is pretty sweet and you can easily hide 1 guy behind a tank.
Every game I played my DA's that forcefield paid for itself.

Your 4++ land raider is spiffy.

The Powerfield doesn't protect the tank if it's inside anymore. But ya, you can stand a dude behind a tank no problem. Probably get a decent parking lot around him too.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
From conversation I think the primary issue is my deployment and playstyle. I'm basically slapping stuff down and THEN thinking about what to do. Got some suggestions for that.
Also, here was a a suggested tweak:

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Seems like a good 5th edition list. It's very mechanized. I don't think you'd have a fun game against some of the lists that are being played locally though. For example, the Eldar lists would eat that like a toddler eats oatmeal. It'd be messy. It's worth playing to see though.
I like you're belial lists, I just think you should take some Ravenwing Black Knights is all, or a Ravenwing squad and take the speeder for free. (mmmm teleport homer. Aidan smashed face with the teleport homer termies today, shot at some wraiths then assaulted)

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
You've hit on the main issues:)
It's an AWESOME 5th list.... in the current ed the Rhino are there to keep the tacts from dying in turn 1 and get some additional mobility. Yeah, its worked well.
I've been trying to figure out how to bring in Ravenwing. A base ravenwing squad would run about 216, with an Attack Bike and Speeder, 346. 5 man black knights is 210....
So what do I drop from the DW lists? The preds are 190 total, the Speeders are 150. drop the preds for either bike squad, keep the 2 speeders?
To be 100% honest, I havent had too many problems vs Loyalist marines (because theyre flyers suck relative to other, and the Mortis dreads can deal with them) and such, and I've done better with the Tacticals in my opinion.

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Good points Beau.
I'd drop the speeders for the Knights... It's such a nice tool to have in the kit too! Either that, or I'd fly the neph for a few games.
I'm just about to watch this batrep. Should be interesting. http://www.frontlinegaming.org/2013/06/23/video-battle-report-dark-angels-vs-chaos-and-daemons/

Re: 1750 Dark Angels
Tried something new today vs Paz's Eldar.
1500 Pts - Codex: Dark Angels Roster
Total Roster Cost: 1492
HQ: Librarian (1#, 100 pts)
1 Librarian, 100 pts = (base cost 65 + Increase Mastery Level x1 35)
Elite: Mortis Dreadnought (IA) (1#, 125 pts)
1 Mortis Dreadnought (IA), 125 pts = (base cost 105 + Twin Linked Autocannon (x2) 20)

: Aegis Defence Lines (2#, 100 pts)
1 Aegis Defence Lines, 50 pts
1 Gun Emplacement, 50 pts = (base cost 0 + Quad-gun 50)
The 9 man squads deployed on objective behind the Aegis lines, and I tried to keep everything behind them as much as possible (to give the vehicles the 4+ cover). I could've done a better job at it, honestly. The Libby joined one of the squads and started buffing them every turn, while he or the sgt manned the quad gun.
I was pretty pleased with the preformance. 3 Interceptors are great vs flyers or anything in reserve. The Aegis line meant about 1/2 the shots vs the vehicles disappeared, and you have to assualt thru terrain to get to them.
The rhinos where there to provide a shield wall, and some maneuverability if needed, they ended up doing nothing. I'm inclined to drop them (-70 pts), and take LasC on the Preds (+40), a conversion field on the Libby (+15, 4+ invul). 23 free points. Also thinking of taking an Icarus, rather than a quad gun. Which would free up 15 more points.
