Chaos Terminators... are good

I think Terminators are a bit of a bright spot in the new chaos book.

All 4 marks are rather decent for them.
3/5 icons are pretty darned alright as well.

For 95 points you get a basic 3-man termy squad.

I think the Mark of Khorne really shines for them. 3 attacks if you're charged, 4 attacks on the charge is pretty darned good for terminators.

I think keeping them cheap with mixed power weapons is the way to go. Power Mauls, Axes, Swords, maybe spend 3 points for a lightning claw...
Icon of Wrath is interesting.
Combi-bolters and Icon of Flame is interesting
Icon of Excess is neat.
the other icons are a bunch of "meh"

T5 terminators via Mark of Nurgle seem cool.

4++ termies via Mark of Tzeench is kinda neat.

I5 termies via Mark of Slaanesh is middling, but cool if you equip power mauls and swords. Opens up a FNP icon, which is nifty.

I'm a big fan of small 3-4 man squads (that can always rally) with 3-combi meltas
I like mid-max sized units with combi-plasmas as well, especially if you can get a deepstrike off. Keep in mind that if you can get a D3 infantry infiltrate warlord trait, these guys can infiltrate (Huron, I think, comes with this trait without rolling)

I think the trick is, keeping them cheap, or going for a Khornate Assault unit.

the elephant in the room is always the lack of ATSKNF or fearless when you invest so many points into a squad.

That said. CSM terminators are definitely cost effective and 2+ saves are so much better with the changes to power weapons.

If your looking at assault-y Termies, the mutilators are actually worth a look at 55 points, they have the same # of attacks and wounds as Two terminators (62 points)and cost less, while having cc weapon options. no guns, but as soon as you start adding guns to terminators their price starts going up considerably.

I'm still hugely disapointed in the loss of Icon based deep striking, however.

Mutilators can't run. So they deep-strike, then sit there in a nice big glob. If they don't deepstrike, they take forever to get to something, and don't do much else. 55 points per model... ugh. 31 points per terminator? Win.

36 points with a combi-plasma

33 points with a Mark of Khorne and a Power Weapon... That's all kinds of tasty.

38 points if you put both of those together.

I keep taking three of em every game... 3 combi meltas.

They DS in great all the time.. Then i whiff. They are driving me bonkers. I think Im now 2/9 on hits with the meltas.. Of course no pens.. Thats askong to much.

Im usong them one more.time this week.. And if i cack out theyre done.. Ill switch over to a slightly bigger unit with a bit scarier cc potential and some flamers. .. They dont miss and treat me well every game. I just havent been taking them since i have the heldrake for taking out any back table threats.

I will say the one nice thing is paying for marks by the model. The flat rate feom last edition was a pain.

If you're going to take them, take combi-plasma and walk 'em.

With a re-roll to charge from the Icon of Wrath, you have almost a 2/3rds chance to get 8" or better. Not too shabby.
