6th edition and power balance Empty 6th edition and power balance

I was looking at my codex and thinking about what I have done so far in 6th, and whether certain things got better or worse.

Feel free to critique what I think.

p.s. Beau, I have not magnetized anything in my army.

Hive Tyrant: Step up
Flyers are doing great these days on top of new bonuses for monsters (smash, etc) and psychic versatility makes him better than he was.

Tervigon: Step up
Ditto on monsters. Also, I am finding poison is hampering me, as I still need a 4+ to wound if I smash. Str 5 doesn't matter on this guy. It is still Str 10 when he smashes. Not taking upgrades has made him cheaper for me.

Swarmlord: Step down
Cover saves are down. He walks. He can't shoot except for psychic. No thanks.

Tyranid Prime: Step down
His bonesword option is only Ap 3. He can't beat the piss out of terminators anymore.

Hive Guard: Step up
Hull points helped this guy.

Zoanthrope: Step up
Psychic versatility helped them.

Doom of Malan'tai: No change

Venomthrope: Step down
Something in the FAQ gave them a small hit. Small and unneeded, as I never liked them anyways.

Ymgarl Genestealers: Huge step up
The nerfing of genestealers has given these guys a clear role that no one else can do. Nerfing outflank has made people sloppy on their deployments.

Tyranid Warriors, Shrikes: Step down
Ditto with powerswords down to AP 3

Termagants: Step up
No more fearless wounds.

Hormagaunts: Step up
Ditto

Genestealers: Huge step down
Nerfing of cover, FnP (2 things I used to keep them alive) adding overwatch and nerfing outflank makes these guys so worthless. Broodlord has a little hope.

Gargoyles: Small step up
One mission where fast attack can claim, also adding hammer of wrath gave them a little.

Harpy: Huge step up
I still think the harpy sorta sucks, but at least now it has some usage.

Raveners: Step up
I like the new beast rules (ignore DT, ignore dangerous terrain), and rage by way of failing an instinctive behaviour check is actually a good thing.

Trygon: Step up
He can now reliably hit tanks (on 3's at worst, rerolling all misses) and smash at Str 10. Unfortunately his fleet got tanked.

Carnifex: Same
I still don't like this guy.

Biovore: Same

Parasite of Mortrex, Old One Eye, Mawloc, Lictor, Deathleaper, Pyrovore, Spore MInes: No change
They sucked before and they still suck.

Swarmlord...

swap all your powers for Biomancy and roll a "1". With Iron-arm, he's redikerous.

Edit: I agree all around. I'd like to do a monster hunter list, with fly-rants, tyranofex's, harpies, 3-4 MSU warriors, lictors from elites.... That's just what I need, to start a 6th army, and have that be Tyranids for the 5th time. Although, I've already got my paint scheme mapped out in Dawn of War, and it's f-ing sweet.

I do have a few extra models up for sale/trade. Lictor, older Hive Tyrant, might be able to spare an old Carnifex, warriors, etc.

As a whole, I will say Tyranids got a very small boost in this edition. They're still a lower tier codex but can win tourneys due to the meta.
