New tyrant = suck

I purchased the new Hive Tyrant box. Man, am I ever disappointed with it.

First of all, if you make him a flyer, he only has 2 arm slots for weapons. How can you give him a gun (Takes up 2 arms) and lash whip/bonesword? Answer is, you don't.

It's not very big. That may be tactically good but I don't want my army leader to be knee-high to a Trygon.

The only thing I'm really happy with is the mutliple boneswords so I can give them to Tyranid Warriors.

I hear you man. Im getting tired of the crappy 13 year old Eldar tanks kits lol. Its like the new fire prism they released about a year or two ago. The turret was all brand new awesome fit together perfectly, then the the rest of it....was the crappy 13 year old tank chassis that was warped and doesnt quite sit right.... lame gw, lame....

yea nothing is worse than plunking down hard cash for a "new" model and its a cast from forever ago. Although the fact that you cant even equip is properly is incredibly lame of GW. the only thing i might suggest is instead of using the wings from the kit maybe get a bits pair from a gw or other supplier, or perhaps you can modify them, so they sit on the back instead of the arm "sockets".

I think it's a brand new model. If I made him a walker, he could be armed properly. I am (more than anything) disappointed in not being to arm him properly without making him look stoopid.

My easy fix for hive tyrant guns is mount them on his back, turret style! Looks great, doesn't take up any slots. Just remove two back vents, push them further down the back, and mount them devourers right up there.

Then I wouldn't be able to magnetize them. Stupid!!!

There is always the Bayonetta style you could go with. Fly through the sky, and shoot with your legs!

That, or the classic tail gun.

toss magnets in the legs. if its the flying one its default is the scything talons but if you convert it a bit it should work.

those are some neat conversion ideas. but you guys are missing the point of why they did that. according to the fluff in the Anphelion project, the hive tyrants there adapted, mutated, evolved, whatever you wanna call what they do, and lost the ability to have those big guns because the arms that would normally be the gun arms grew out and became wings so that they could get out over top of the large containment fences that all the species were contained in.
it was a failing on the part of the departmento biologis for not contemplating the possibility that the nids they had captured would biomorph into something that could fly over the fences, so they never put a lid on the cages.

though that said, the pic in the book on pg 77 showed a winged hive tyrant who had his wing arms, and the lower arms were a gun of some type, i didnt recognize the weapon though.

i think the idea they wanted to go with is you trade off your firepower/melee prowess in exchange for something that can fly.

They do have that in the rules.. Sort of.. Or the last edition did. The problem is currently you can take the guns.. But the actual model doesnt allow it.. Which is pretty goofy but definitly not uncommon in the warhammer world.

A bit of creativeness and you should be in good shape. If not just globs and globs of.glue.. Or globs and globs of magnets.. Whatever way you swing.

Gw forgetting their own fluff and having minis sculpted by people who dont ever know the codexes??? never!

Also its all GW quality control can do to make sure models dont hit the shelves with two left arms.....

They have been getting much better with options in thw boxes.. Not perfect but gwtting there.

After the chapterhouse case theyve also pretty much guranteed theyll be releasing pretty much everythng at once.. Or like the chaos book first wave at codex release and the rest in two weeks
