GW Broadsides
So i was browsing the gw website and apparently you cant buy broadsides now? You either have to buy a crisis and the upgrade kit or order the through forge world. That is mega lame.

Could mean new kit is on the horizon. There are rumours of a new Tau Codex in the near future.

They did Resin Upgrade kids for Destroyer Lords too. (Necron Segue?)
Anyway, this is actually good news for Tau players, as you can get used suits from anyone who's ever played Tau, and upgrade them to Broadsides for the low-low cost of... whatever that kit costs (what is it? $12)

I suppose those are two positive ways to look at it i guess (although the kit is 18 bucks >.>). Still kinda cranky that you basically have to go that route though. although i might end up ordering things from forge world anyways so maybe ill save up and get a bit of stuff all together.

The forge world ones are super sweet.

Indeed. Although the ones with twin-linked plasma are even yummier!

I know it's probably not all that common an occurrence, but now in 6th, you can't assault something you can't see. If you can hide a pair of broadsides behind a wall, they can shoot their missiles (which don't need LoS) without fear of being assaulted back.

Re: GW Broadsides
Well I only mention the twin-linked plasma since I have been considering running Multi-trackers on them. Would give you quite a bit of ap1/2 shots at anything within 24" and a whole lot if anyone makes it to 12". Alas I dont know if moving your stupidly long range unit within 24" is a great idea. The handful of 6th games ive gotten in Broadsides get really fragile in a hurry at 24" or less.

Re: GW Broadsides
personally i'm thinking that the further away from the enemy your broadsides are.. the longer you'll have them.
the other thing is that tau is primarily a shooty army. so i'm sure you have other units that can fill that 24 inch range with fire.
personally, i would leave the Broadsides to do what they do best. and thats bust sh*t up from all the way accross the table.

Well you end up paying the points either for the smart missiles or extra for the plasma (10 points) and not using it all game can be irritating at times. I agree however, in the games versus my brother, while he was visiting, the games i kept them far back they tended to do much better. Just not enough models to soak wounds even with 2+ and a couple of shield drones.
