Rinse your finecast models in warm soapy water and let them dry for a full day before applying a base coat. This will help strip all the oils and stuff left on the model from processing.

Edit: Also, if a piece of the model is bent, increase the temperature of the water a bit and gently bend the piece into the correct shape.

this is a good tip for anyone working on any kind of resin model, including Forge World models. There's a chemical releasing agent they use to get the models out of the moulds, and that's what give that greasy feeling you'll notice on the models.

the normal GW stuff has it too, but not as noticeably. but if you've ever noticed your paint job flakes off the normal kits, that's the reason.

anything you want the water-based acrylic paints to stay onto should really be washed in this manner before anything is done to them.

Tip: if you want the models to dry sooner, using a cheap $15 hair dryer from Superstore or Walmart will easily do the trick. you can also use it on its High Heat setting to bend the warped plastic parts into proper shape.

Best to use an old toothbrush and a little dish soap to get the release agent of the mini as well under the running water. It's good advice for metals and plastic too.
