so, BatRep;
pitched battle, 3 objectives. Smurfs vs Angels, angels gave smurfs first turn.
he moved his guys about and i started rolling for DS bottom of turn 2. luckily, everything came in, and stayed mainly on target.
dante landed in behind the land raider and sent 5 melta shots at x2 AP roll distance. managed to stun and destroy both lascannon sponsons.
honor guard and the sanguinor jumped down on his scouts camped on an objective in a ruined building.
each tactical squad pounced in behind a predator each. one destroyed in the first round of shooting, other one was stunned.
vanguard jumped in beside the devastators, and chopped them up.
fast forward to turn 7...
i've lost my sang guard and their priest when i took out his libby and termies. both rhinos, all combat squaded tacticals, the devastators, the predators, the scouts, a speeder and 1 dread are all destroyed.
one rhino, predator, and a speeder stand as burning funeral pyres around the western objective, where a squad of RAS, dante, and 2 vanguard stand vigil. the eastern front, not far from a vacant objective, stand the burning wrecks of a dread and the other predator. a rhino is burning nearby, cradled between a small mountaintop and the third objective snuggled inside a bombed building. a reduced squad of RAS and the Sanguinor stand nearby watching the flames, while on the far side of the mountain, an immobilized dread stands futilely facing the wrong way, whilst a hobbled land raider sits parked beside it. north of this display, a speeder lays stranded with its engines disabled.

My 140 pt Libby was a non factor, as after Dante's little hex, he was actually a sub-par 1 W termie. Although he did flamer your Sang Guard nicely.
I should have brought my LS onboard about 12" further back. No way you could've assaulted them and I coulda send both of them over to the obj to contest.
Also I should have thought ahead to the fact that I got 2 free turns of movement.
I also should have insisted on rolling for end of game at turn 5.
On the plus side, my new dice roll better!

Roland @ So you got new dice... Good thing, Towards the end of the battle we had I was starting to feel sorry for you. But at the same time its nice to know that I am not the only one that has dice that turn on a guy. lol still a good game thou by the sounds of it.

After the fourth or fifth game where there was open laughter at rolls (myself included) I just had to do something. It was getting crazy. Dice had nothing to do with this tho. I should have castled. I find that effective, but boring as hell, so I spread out. I even got greedy and made a run at all three obj, rather than cruzing for two and trying to ride it out.
The sniper scouts, one pred, both LasC on the LR and the devs never even go a shot off. At that point there was a 430 pt handicap, not including the LR. That'll learn me.

i will say this though; castling against DoA doesn't work. a castling maneuver is the last thing you should do against a list like this with weapons that eat tanks in the 3-6" range on squads that move 12" at a time.
Blood angels laugh and hope for commanders to castle because this will allow them to all concentrate on one vehicle at a time and hop from one to the next.
i was gonna bring this up after our game but it was late and candice wanted to eat, but had you castled your army, i would've taken the LR out first on turn 2, and then all my meltas would've redeployed to take out the predators and rhinos turn 3. as you saw with me spreading out and hunting them in the pairs you deployed them in with just single squads seeking them out, that didnt take me very long, and with the rhinoas only carrying combat squads, the CC would've only lasted your turn and i would have resumed hopping after your tanks.
overall, your choice of movement was a better one, because if i had rolled more poorly on those melta rolls, being spread out like that would have made it a battle of attrition for me and i would have lost; you had clear lines of sight to my single squads with no cover to speak of for them. it went in my favor so well because i managed to keep stunning, immobilizing, destroying weapons, and turning chassis into marshmellow roasts before you could do serious weapon volleys on me. even then, you sent alot at my 2 squads near the latter half when your speeders dropped in.

I see what you mean.... Actually I should have spread them out MORE then.
I still think sending the scout was a bad idea. Should of had them join the combat squad on the one.
The Dev's were toast no matter what I did with them, the only reasonable thng..

Scouts and Dev's IN the building, or anything that would have made you make a dangerous terrain test. Again I had 2 FREE moves, where I didn't have to worry about shooting, or getting shot. I made it pretty damn easy to assault them.
