500 point newbi nid list

My son and I are working on a 500 point tryanid force as follows:

HQ: Hive Tyrant; Old Adversary, Heavy venom cannon, toxic miasma and regen -- 255

Troops: Warrior Brood; 3 models, venom cannon, 2 death spitter -- 115

Genestealer brood; 5 models, broodlord upgrade, all with scything talons upgrade -- 126

TOTAL : 496

This is what we think will look cool/ kick ass, lol. I think it will work if used right. I'd really like some feedback to see if I'm on the right track. We're planning on painting/building during the holiday.

Looks fine to me. Usually for games that small you don't need an HQ, and I think you can take only 1 troops choice if you want. I haven't played 40K in a Flash for a couple years. But that definitely looks like a solid core to build around.

in 40k flash (games < 1000) you only require 1 troop and no HQ (rather than 1HQ + 2Troop); you are also restricted to models that do not have: >= 3Wound, 2+ saves, or >=34 total armor. (12/12/10)

So the Tyrant would actually be too big for a game that size; too many wounds.

Hmmmm, I didn't know there were those rules for games under 1000. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it. I guess I'll work out a 1000 pt list instead to start. Thanks for the heads up.

The flash/recon rules aren't actually in 5th ed. rulebook. They are house rules for the most part and aren't required in all circumstances.

Your list looks good. For a small game using nids, the tyrant might be putting a lot of points into one model. A well placed set of heavy weapons will take that down with half your army. I'd keep it though bc as you build your army it will be an excellent choice.

The prime/warriors are your friends in a game that small. Or ymgarl genestealers for the win. They're hard to deal with in a small game.
