Blood Ravens or Space Wolves

I just thought I would pop this question out before I get to far into this project. Since the Blood Ravens don't really have a story line. I was wondering If It would be a total sin if a guy could construct a Space Wolf Army according to the codex, but just give them Blood Raven markings.

No story line? Arent they the main army for dawn of war and dawn of war 2?

But to address your question, it's your army and you can colour and mark them however you like, just make sure you follow the rules of the codex you are using.

You can paint em however you want, but if you want to follow fluff, then no. Blood ravens now have piles of backstory, thanks to the games and literature. Turns out they are an offshoot secret founding of the thousand sons, hence the large number of librarians in the chapter. Lots to pull from, no need to borrow space wolf iconography.

Ya I did find some back story. But I don't think the Blood Ravens have a codex, or even a set of rules for points. If there is please let me know. I did find out that Forge World finally has a decal sheet for the "B R". I was looking at other space marine codex's like the Black Templar, Dark Angels and the Blood Angels. And I think the Space Wolves set of rules would be better for the way I want to form this Army up. I hope... lol

Sounds to me that you are opting out of being blood ravens, unless you call them something else and make your own chapter that more or less looks like the blood ravens, but follows the space wolves dex.

Pretty much ya. I'll be using mostly regular space marine hard ware. Cause I got most of the bits to make it work. Just paint them like Blood Ravens and use the space wolves codex. Just wanted to make sure I could still play fluff.

you could always have them with some tie to a raven type god that took them off the original planet that they were on and delivered them to thier current one, and how the raven watched over and protected the wolves till they were able to watch over themselves etc etc

well i just remember seeing some space wolves with ravens on thier shoulders
and i also thought hey, a raven type god could be taken as a spaceship that transported them etc etc

also, running on 2-3 hrs of sleep daily for the past little while, ALMOST OUTTA THIS SANDBOX AND BACK IN CANADA!!!

The space wolf dex would let you take 4 rune priests(libby) which would be a good way to illustrate the high number of libbys in the Blood Ravens. On the other hand blood angels would let you have 2 standard libbys and 3 libby dreads. Personally I think the blood angel dex does a better job of representing their specific nuances. On that note they are not actually a successor to either of those chapters so if you want to stay fluffy i would stay away from the niche type units in the dexs(thunderwolves, sang guard, etc)

Yes i was thinking maybe "BA" as well. But after seeing how cowardly you have to play with them(aka hide behind a building), I decided against such a pathetic thought... lol No but seriously the Wolves are more for killing choas and that is kinda the direction I want to take this army. That is my opinion after reading some info on them. Oh and thanks Matt for the links.
