That was great, and neat what the director's doing about it. Apparently, the director created this trailer just so he could sell what a "reimagined" Mortal Kombat movie could be like. Awesome..
Although, Johnny Cage was always my favorite character..

Well straight up it's not mortal combat, it's like calling the movie "Doom", Doom. Instead of "Some guys go to mars and =I=censor=I= is crazy".
So I'm gonna call this "Some dudes beat each other up cool and make an amazing movie even tho it has nothing to with mortal combat"
On a more excited note, HOLY =I=censor=I= JERRI RYAN AS SONYA NERGASM!!!
On another note, how do you rationally explain gorro in this "realistic" new motal combat universe that has divorced it's magical past, I mean there's no magical place where dudes just fight and there's rules 'n =I=censor=I=... mortal combat doesn't work without rules, I mean that guy had blades grafted into his =I=censor=I= arms.... SWORDS IN HIS ARMS!!! The whole time he was fighting johnny cage, I was like man, I'd just run, this guy has =I=censor=I= SWORDS IN HIS ARMS!!! YOUR FISTS WILL NEVER BEAT SWORDS IN HIS =I=censor=I= ARMS!!!
Which is why you simply can't make a realistic mortal combat, you need magic and =I=censor=I= to explain why people can't just use THE SWORDS IN THEIR =I=censor=I= ARMS TO CUT BITCHES FACES OFF!!! Also... wouldn't the nerdy guy with a glock 9mm just win every fight? Ok, you drew your SWORDS IN YOUR =I=censor=I= ARMS!!! Now I fill your face with more lead than a cannon ball... Finish him? I'm done dude, his face is inside out with bullets, does this tournament pay in cash or store credit? thanks.
I hope they make this movie, but I hope they make it with magic because that's the only way it works.

Weeelll, who knows what the director/writer is going to do. There are a million ways to explain anything.
All I know is that the trailer they put together looked really good, and having Baraka and Reptile's histories explained as such was good, and the fight choreography was great.
If they are making a Mortal Kombat movie and taking out all the magic, I really don't know why you'd bother calling it Mortal Kombat. You basically then have the same movie as a million other ones out there.. Bloodsport, The Quest, King of the Kickboxers.. etc. etc. etc. umm, what the hell was that Assassin contest movie I watched a few weeks back, with Ving Rhames.. anyway, you get the point.
I think I agree there's no real point making Mortal Kombat unless your going to add some type of magic or something similar. That being said.. it was just a trailer. I sure hope there's some type of mystical'ness about it.. fighting in the Outworld, Frost bolts, acid spatters, 4-armed muties, lightening, and yeah, and ancient wizard. Hard to get around all that without using some type of magic type mechanism.. but based on what we saw I'm fully willing tio give the movie a chance no matter what is does!
