Warmachin/Hordes Empty Warmachin/Hordes

Post  Freezingoon Mon Jan 11, 2010 3:04 pm

I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little bit about these two games. I've been looking into it am a little disappointed by the lack of information I'm finding. My biggest question is are these games compatible, Im thinking of collecting a Circle hordes army, but I've never seen a Hordes army at the den only Warmachine. Also if anyone could give me a run down of how some armies play, for example nothing from the website I've noticed makes any of the armies stand apart in terms of gameplay. Thanks for any information.

1stly Warmachine and Hordes are compatable

You can play Warmachine vs Horde armies very easily, and both should be present at "Warmachine" events
for a quick rundown of the armies:

Warmachine:
Cygnar: lotsa lightning, speed, and guns. Has a lot of silly shenanigans (like eldar)
Khador: Big N Heavy, smash hard, but move slow. uses cold magic
Menoth: Religious Zealots, use fire and fancy synergy magicks medium armor
Cryx: Zombie Pirates, uses speedy stuff, and large numbers of undead units. Little Armour.
Mercenaries: tons of variety, can work independently, or with other armies.
Retribution: Super fancy guys, low health, dont know much bout em

Hordes:
Trollbloods: Similar to orcs, bit and beaty, use alcohol and rune magic
Circle of Orberos: Human druids, uses tons of fancy magick. medium armor
Skorne: Uses torture magick, and spirit stuff, Heavy units, LOTS of synergy stuff
Everblight: Dark elves with wyrmkin. ignore many game rules, squishy units that hit hard
Minions: work for other factions, cant actly play as an army right now

I hope that gives u an idea of the different armies, ask me if you have any other questions

Thanks for the answers they were very helpful. I have settled on the Circle of Orberos, I like a more magic style army, and I've always liked painting fur, flesh and scales over armor. My next question is what is an average game like in term of model composition, if I get the starter kit (warlock 2 light warbeasts and a heavy warbeast) and a couple of units and solo would that be enough for a game. I plan on getting a rulebook for hordes soon but a tip from a player on what games around here are like would be nice.

well the game's second version just came out, but in the 1st one games are typically 500 750 or 1000 points

Caster 70-120
Heavies Jacks/Beasts are around 100-150 pts
Light Jacks/beasts are 70-100 pts
Units and solo range greatly

Add up to the point values and u have a game
and u can have 1 caster for every 500 points

tell me when u have 500 or 750 points constructed, we can have a game

Hordes hasn't got a mkII yet, but i think warmachine and hordes are stilll compatible. If not alot of people won't mind playing MKI, and there is a few hordes players, they're just too lazy to show up. Razz Oh BTW most of the battlegroups/warpacks come with about 300 points.

I have heard that they come out in about 6 months. I think that they have a hordes mk 2 field teat out on the privateer press site.

Why are you discussing Warmachine in a 40k forum?
