Should games recorded for league points be limited?
For next league: limit games played?
I am going to throw out some polls to see what people think so that there is lots of time to take in the info for the next league.
For this poll: Should games be limited to a certain number per week? Also an idea would be to allow games over the limited amount to award a low points total (such as 1 strategic point per extra strategic game).
Edit:
Please feel free to post comments or reasons why you think one way or another

Re: For next league: limit games played?
Well, I for one think that having unlimited games per week is very unfair towards people who cannot put more time aside in their life to play the hobby.
Don't get me wrong, I am not caring how things are, but for a "competitive" league where members do not have a full time job/family to worry about and can just play and play and play, it gives them an unfair advantage.
I would say if we are still going to charge people to play in the league and have a "winning" prize at the end, then it should be equally fair to everyone involved. If we waive the fee, then go hard with unlimited games...
My two cents....

If we were charging lots of money, I could uinderstand.. buts it $5.. $5 for three months of usage at the Den? SOme of it goes to helping out the Den, and the rest to prizes which are 1/3 door prizes. I see where your coming from, but in the end .. its $5. Its less then $2 a month!
I have mixed feelings on the whole game restriction thing. Weve had the proble on and off through the years but its really come into its own in the last leagues. I dont want to limit the games because I like to see people playing. On the other end, as mentioned, alot of us can only plan to play a game or two or week.
This leads into another option. I can easily up the finals from 8 to 16 and decrease the points difference from 15 to 10 per slot finished in the league. First place finisher would end up having 150 more point then the last place finisher. 16 spots for playoffs would give us a huge chunk to work with, and would only require one extra week of gameplay.

I agree with Robyn. I think we're losing sight of what the league is all about. It's a chance to play toys with like-minded people for fun. We pay $5 for the league and get to use a top-notch facility for several months (thanks Darren!). To say someone is getting an "unfair advantage" doesn't really make any sense to me. Why restrict people from participation? Participation is the league's goal. The same goes for the whole WAAC/army list thread. I think that is a matter that will take care of itself. People will play against who they want to play against. If someone has a reputation as "that guy" then he will soon find himself short of opponents.

Re: For next league: limit games played?
I personally have no problem with a restriction on the number of games reportable per week, but looking at recent events, I don't know how much it'd do.
Most of those in the top 8 seem to be only playing a game or two per week anyways, on average(More if some are recon, since they're much quicker). It's just that we do this EVERY week, whereas the more casual players may only get in a game or two every OTHER week.
Though last week I did get in a full day - from 1 to 9, played 3 full strategic games (The last one against Jareds tau was one of the most brutal slugfests I've had in a while, and ended up taking longer than the other two combined! It was totally worth it though, we didn't know for sure who'd won until we finished counting up kill points after the game.)
Anyways, that was a bit off topic.. um... Back to the thread...
I'd be ok with 1 or 2 reportables per week if that's what ends up happening (Though I don't think we should count recons in that limit, they're not really gonna make/break the league anyways, and as stated before, are rather quick).
Also, an add-on to Robyn/Tim's statements about the $5.00 fee - Don't forget that also gets you the league discount, so if you buy $50 worth of warhammer over the course of the league, you've payed for your membership. Any more and you're saving money. And that's on top of the chance to win prizes, and the fun/priveledge/prestige of being in the league.

Re: For next league: limit games played?
I voted for unlimited games per week, not that I have time to play more then one or two, I've had weeks where I've played 2 and weeks where I've played none, but I've got no problem with someone playing every day of the week for points if they really want to, great for them, maybe they do deserve that play off spot for playing 38 games a week for 16 weeks, seriously give them a blue ribbon, pat them on the back and tell them there parents would be proud, don't kick them in the nuts and go, "I'm busy so you should have to go out into the real world for a few." Seriously, it's cold out side, and the sun burns skin quite literally. So I say, GAME ON! Don't stop until you get dice elbow, and even then tough it out like a real man!
