Hehe.. sorry. I was in the middle of elaborating with a mini battle report but got pulled into a meeting. I will come back to it.. but on turn 3 I had a bloodthirster left.. and 5 plaguebearers.. it was a massacre.

There were definitly some wonky rolls on both sides.. Ill have to rethink things the next time I go.up against thosr guys.. like a gun of some sort.

Started off pretty great.for me.. siezed then destroyed the soul grinder with one shot from the thirsters Hellfire gaze. And then.... the psychic powers.

get some psychic defense.

Actually, is there still something like a collar of Khorne for Daemons?

well, keep in mind that mark is a big cheater. So you were doomed from the start.

My list is pretty strong, except when facing Trevor's Spawn...

Generally speaking, the best defense against a psyker is another, more powerful psyker. Or a Gloom Prisim. Not all armies have access to those, though.

Incidentally, is anyone else having trouble posting/loading the forums today?

The biggest reason I want to ally Eldar in is for the sweet psychic defense. I have also been knocking around SW as allies. Having access to good psychic defense is going to be a staple in 6th now.

Just watch out for those 3 wound sorcerers. Right Mark?

I had the best psychic defense khorne can muster.. although truthfully i could of used them 1000 times better.

Hounds have collars for a 2+ deny the witch. Karanak has a collar he confers to his unit plus forces.you to.take.a perils on and doubles you roll. I played him really poorly though.. ill know that for next time.

I could.take the.lesser loci of abjuration on an extra for a 5+ deny roll.. but that wouldnt have helped.

They're beat machines. If they cost over 200 points, they should get a free bonus wound! *laughs*

I have found shadows of the warp is great psychic defence but it is not overly hard to get more than 12 inches away.

if hounds get a 2+ deny, run them straight at horror squads.

What are all the psychic defenses?

Librarians all have hoods;
Rune Priests have something similar;
Grey Knights have the shrouding (I think its called that); Or maybe the Aegis,...
Tyranids have shadows of the warp;
Eldar have runes of warding;
Khorne has 2+ deny for hounds and kharn;
Necrons have gloom prism;
Sisters have Null Rods (at least as far as I remember)

So armies without special anti-psychic--> Tau, Orks, Dark Eldar, Nurgle/Tzeentch/Slaanesh Chaos

And among those, only Tau and Dark Eldar cannot take their own psykers

Does that sound about right?

Rune Priests have runic weapons which allow you to cancel powers on a 4+ within 24" of the Rune Priest. The only better statistically better psychic defense are runes of warding.

Other than that your list looks fairly complete.

The 2+ Deny the Witch is what gives me fits.

I need to nullify them by Soul Grinder or Demon Prince, otherwise, I'm boned. Well, either that or win combat by 1 wound and have them roll boxcars.

They used to have the Crucible of malediction that blew up Psykers. And to add to the list, there is the Culuxus Assassin. And also necrons used to have Pariahs but they no longer exist =(

You keep mixing up The Shrouding, which grants a 6" bubble of stealth, with the Aegis, which is their -1Ld for the purposes for having a hostile spell cast at you. They also have the Reinforced Aegis on Dreadnaughts, granting a 12" aura of -4LD instead of -1, and the fact that everyone, even their tanks, is sporting at least some amount of psychicness, giving a non-inquisition army 5+ DtW across the board.

Tzeentch suffers -1 from Aegis, due to their Demon ability. So Kairos will still kick you in the bum with his AP1 blast, AP2 beam, and 2D6-4D6 heavy bolter shots.

just a bad match up for you Robyn. in a game of rock paper scissors you used good old rock and he cheated with his paper.

best advise i can give is to have several threats instead of just a few big ones, if its the same list that me and mark drew with a week or so ago, that horror unit was brutal, but it could only shoot one thing a turn.

not much you can do if he never rolls low on his grimoire though =/

I had a couple goofy things happen.. but truthfully it.s daemons and something goofy happens every game ! I was surprised at the sheer amount of shooting power. A herald and fateweaver both had precognition, so they both got.tonreroll hits and wounds. I think fateweaver hit some bloodletters for 17 wounds one turn.. ! With the right combo of psychic powers it can be pretty scary.

Ya, he wiped out a unit on his own. Fly-over, then Flickering Fire with 3 warp-charge.
