Ditch all voxcasters!

Give your command HQ some sort of direction, right now is just a mix of stuff. All melta or flamer is a good choice. Medi pack for T3 guardsmen is a waste of points, whatever you're fighting will kill you.

Storm troopers aren't too great to begin with for their points cost, if you are going to take them give them melta to take advantage of their special rules.

Single grenade launchers are bad, flamers and melta are good, for infantry. No heavy weapons in squads? They're super cheap and Using the chimera as a bunker is a good tactic.

No need for smoke on the sentinals, they should always be shooting.

What goes in the Valk? Don't use it for ST's

Not sold on the Devil Dog. But there is a serious lack of melta in this list.

Sorry to say, if my opinion means anything (probably doesn't), I don't like this list at all. It's a lot of vehicles that shoot strength 5 with some more vehicles mixed in. There isn't enough killing power at 2000pts and not nearly enough melta.

The list is an OLD list (I think from 4th) that I'm moving from 1500 to 2000. Barely any of it is built, I've been playing with it for a long time, but w/o any regular game-play, it gets off track. The only things actual purchased is a Regimental Command Squad (the old good looking metal one), all 50 of the guardsmen, a leman russ, and the 3 sentinels. Of that I think one of the platoons is done. How's about moving my HW squads into the platoons and using the leftovers as special weapon squads (most likely melta). They could be ferried about in the valk(s)

The ST's are mainly b/c I like the models. Thinking of using them as Vets (w/ Carapace, and maybe that upgrade guy) and going all melta. Yes, they ride in the Valk.

What if I took all the squads (including the platoon cmd squad to meltagun/lascannon and they sit in the chimera that has HF/HF? If I'm going again horde, I fry em, if tanks, I sit and shoot.

Should the sentinels be armored? I know they lose scout but armor 12?

Lose the devildog and add a second Valk? I can't remember the config I had planned for them, I'll have to rework up the list tonight. or tomorrow.

In any case any opinion helps. I'm not looking to make a gamebreaking list, but if its gonna fall flat and be no fun at all to play, I'd rather know that before I build anymore.

Do what Ryan says. This list needs auto cannons in EVERY chimera...

then if you go against hordes, you sit and shoot, and if you go against mech you sit and shoot and if you got against super elite uber draigowing pally army of death, you sit and shoot so damn hard it clogs their air recyclers with bullets and they drown in their armor.

I mean, you've got all those chimeras anyway, might as well use them instead of glancing rhino's all game.

Melta squads in valks can be good.

I like auto cannons in the squads, it's a cheap and versitile weapon. Although I have nothing against HW squads, but then I worry about facing a lot of strength 6+ and how there's only three of them (easy kill point) but there are those who will swear by them.

The ST's may be better off used as vets. I think ST's are kind of viable, I used to take them for fun. You should really take advantage of their grav chutes if you want to use them. You're paying points for those rules!

My personal fave chimera is multilaser and heavy flamer. Strength 6 is good against light vehicles, MC's, and all kinds of infantry. Don't worry about the AP any turrent gun on a chimera will for the most part be allowing a save. Torrenting Str 6 is good, and templates when they get in your face.

I personally like the armour 12 sentinal, I like to tarpit with them when I can. But it really comes down to what you want out of them. Scout ones are cheaper and definitley have their own positives.

Try some reworking, I do beleive the first list would fall very flat in 5th. In the end it all comes down to personal prefernce and playstyle. I just think you need to work that into the list.

If you're going to use stormtroopers I'd personally give them plasma. They make decent MEQ/monstrous creature killers, and are still viable versus transports. I think they are too expensive to be given melta. Whatever you shoot will charge and kill you next turn. I'd ditch the basic leman russes too. Nobody fears battlecannons anymore. Some of the russ variants are cool though. I love the demolisher, and the 11 armour on the back makes it way more survivable.

I agree with just about everything else said. Voxcasters are awful, and infantry need heavy weapons. Unlike Ryan, I like the humble 5 point grenade launcher. How soon you forget the awesomeness of the Action Jackson squad!

Ooh don't get me wrong. I remeber. I like GL's, but I like them like this:

10 vets w/ 3xGL, AC, Chimera w/ML & HF

Super cheap unit that can torrent a lot of middle strength shots and templates!(if possible)

I agree about regular russ's, they are no longer very good. I'm a fan of the demolisher.

Here's the new list. Still 35 pts short. kinda liking either Master of Ord, or Officer of the Fleet. For the Russes, past the std one I like the Demolisher and Vanquisher. The others just seem very pigeon-holed to me. What's the std kit for a demolisher anyways these days?
