Well that is pretty cool, but I really gotta wonder what the hell happened to Terrence Stamp? He used to be way up the chain in Hollywood once upon a time. But now he does the voice thing and =I=censor=I= bit parts here and there. I don't even know if he acts on stage anymore. Wasn't he a Royal Shakesperean guy?

He has been waiting for a role to come around that is befitting of his talents.

Wow, its actually getting limited theatrical release.

Not to speak ill of the movie cuz I'm sure it'll be awesome, but I always assumed it was going to be a straight to dvd movie soon to be found in the 3.99 bin of your local carwash. Just never struck me that there would be enough of a market. Yay!

Or, more likely, it will tank in theatres because there isn't much of a market for it. Where it will soon find itself relegated to the 3.99 bin at the Spiffy on 8th.

I am looking forward to it, as some pretty awesome people are voicing it. I just always just feel bad when they release movies about this stuff (i.e., Warhammer, Final Fantasy, etc.). Too many people are clueless about what the background is, so don't go. Or they go, get confused, and hate it. Regardless, it doesn't do the content justice.

And worst of all all the fools that are mesmerized by the movie only know about sm because they have not researched any other armies they will instantly buy sm damm smurfs.

Bah, as long as it gets more people into the hobby im all for it. Besides the space marines are the perfect noob army. Easy to play, look cool, easy to paint, tons of options, and that 3+ armor makes them more forgiving to start with.

When picking a successful poster-child for your publicly traded company, would you want:

a) A virtuous exemplar of everything good and honourable about the human race?
or
b) A slavering daemon-man lusting for the blood of innocent babies while screaming KHORNE! at the top of its lungs?

Good marketing says A will be the choice every time. That bias gives GW a positive public face, and a jumping point into the background that is friendly for all ages.

Seriously, I see this all the time. They are the reason 40k got popular, they are the midground the darn hobby is built around, and people buy the models waaaay more than any other, save orks, so OF COURSE gw will concentrate on them.

Too many gamers feel they are entitled, that GW owes them. Deal with it!

I was being sarcastic Ben, I think Space marines were the biggest reason, after genestealers, that attracted me to 40k in the first place.

I think its fine that Ultramarines are the focus. Super soldiers in power armour with chainswords and rocket guns sell good. It may even help the expansion of 40k. I mean Dawn of War brought many players to the game, and that was all about Blood Ravens.

Plus, the more people that play Space Marines, the more often I will be able to play Loyalists vs Traitors.

Yeah, Dawn of War was my intro to the hobby as well. The marines looked cool at first, but after blowing people up all afternoon with a Baneblade and some heavy artillery, I knew what my true calling was.


Back on topic, I'm looking forward to the movie and I hope it attracts more than those of us who're allready hooked.

i dont think we will have to prebuy tikets it will be in theaters for like 2 days efore spiffy gives you one free with every car wash.
