So, there is still a Food Machine tournie happening this Sat. at the Den. I unfortunately can't make it, but luckily its very simple and DOn the War Machine guy is going to handle all the administration parts. Ill have the sceanrios ready to to go .. all Don needs is someone who is going to attend to act a "rules guy" in case anything comes up. Now, I dont think it will be a problem as our league nights go pretty smooth.. but he'd like one around just in case.

Any volunteers? Ill post the rules for the Food machine tounrie shortly... but it will pretty much be the same as last year except for one big change. Last year when you used a ticket to force someone to roll, we didn't double it if your opponent then forced to re roll it... and vice versa. Plus, Im going to take out the re roll all your misses and stuff.

Rules to follow shortly

I've know altered the name of this event from Food Machine (the war machine name_ to Foody K, which I think is 100 times better.

The Food Machine tournament is a fudn raised for the Saskatoon Food bank where we donate food items to cheat in our games of 40K. Last year we raised something along the lines of 8000 items, although 7500 of those were Ichiban noodles, it was still impressive. The event will be happening on Nov 28th, 750 points. Ill get the proper time, but I'm assuming it will be around 9.

Cost - 10 food items. For each food item yoo bring above 10, you'll get 1 ticket which can be used throughout the course of your game in one of the ways described below. As an example, the average items brought last years was around 40-50... but you could easily use more.

After your games, you'll receive prize tickets that you can then place in the draw boxes in front of the prizes. If you win, you'll get more tickets and more chances, but everyone will have a chance at these and you can win multiple times.

Ticket Uses:

1 ticket - re-roll one dice or make your opponent roll one dice * No limit on how many times this can be used but each time your force a re-roll on the same roll, the cost doubles! Example - I roll to hit and miss. I spend a ticket to re-roll and hit this time. My opponent spends 2 tickets and forces to re-roll. I do, and miss this time. I then spend 4 tickets to re-oll.. and so on.

2 tickets - one unit gains the Fleet rule for one turn (can only use on one unit, once per turn)
2 tickets - one unit becomes Fearless for one turn (can only use on one unit, once per turn)

3 tickets - one unit gains Feel no Pain for one turn (can only use on one unit, once per turn)
3 tickets - one unit gains the Infiltrate rule and can choose to outflank if desired

5 tickets - you can spend 5 tickets to Seize the Initiative!
5 tickets - at the beginning of the game after deployment zones have been picked but before units are deployed, you can spend 5 tickets and move one piece of terrain up to 6" in any direction.

10 tickets - use before rolling for deployment zones. You get to choose to be player 1 or 2. After deployment is done, you then get to choose if you want to go first or second! You opponent can pay 10 tickets as well to counteract this and roll as normal.

Alright, let's get the discussion going on some more options and if you guys like these ones.

Im not sure how many are coming down. The poll I posted before indicated a good amount of interest.

If no one is interested, I may save myself the trouble of doing up all the work and cut it out.. since I cant be there. If someone else can though, Ill do er.

More than likely, yes.

I think I might cancel though, as I cant make it and the interest seems low. Like I said, Id also need a rules volunteer but no ones is up for that either. Cant force Don to do everything.

So..... we had over 20 people show up for the last tourny, 30 signed up for the league, and only a few want to go and none to help out at a tourny for charity.... Robyn can't do everything, he's a busy guy, and does enough work to run things smoothly for us around here. It would suck to see a tournament opportunity disappear because no one wants to step up. Or is it a issue with the rules? Or does nobody like charity? I will give that notice is pretty short. I would be there, but my wife works and it's tough to find someone to babysit all day on a Saturday, so I have the babies to take care of.

Doesn't look good, especialy if Saskatoon wants to get a big competitive tournament going.....

It's my birthday this weekend, so I won't be heading out to the tournament, but I expect stories!

If you want/need someone to help out with rules/scorekeeping/etc for future tournies, I'd be willing to then, but not this weekend. sorry guys.

Allrighty, Ill tell Don it's a go. It's going to be a friendly event.. keep in mind the priority is to gather up food items for the Food Bank.. not to win the prizes available. The prizes of course help out.. but were trying to raise some food items.

Ichiban noodles will get you a ticket.. but I encourage a mix of course. I think the Food bank hauled off about 5000 packs of Ichiban last year.

Ill get the ball in motion. Everyone will of course receive league points for their games this weekend. The lists are 750 and will have to abide by the standard recon rules.

However, I'd be willing to field some debate if everyone wanted to up it to 1000 points and make three games instead of four and throw the recon rules out.

Tom, I really doubt anything will come up, but Ill put you down as the final say if something does creep up. I think we can all work stuff out on our own for a friendly like this. If worse comes to worse, you can always roll a dice to settle an issue and then force your opponent to re-roll it with a ticket! Ok, just kdding, please dont try to do that.

Ill get all the scenarios done and posted this week as well so everyone knows they're up against.

Thanks man.. Ill find out from Darren when they are dropping off the Food bank bin. If it's not going to be there until the weekend, Ill arrange it so you can still drop off items at the Den in some sort of collective area.

Anyone else who'd like to donate is also more than welcome to do so. And no giant containers of Splenda, the Food bank has enough of that to last the next ten years thanks to last years donation.

I understnad the having to leave.. but it's going to casue some organizational problems. If we have exactly 10 guys.. and you leave for one game.. then your opponent for that round is going to be out of luck. He can take the win, but Id feel forcing someone to sit out a game.

Ill see if I can find a plyer to act as a stand in for an odd number of players..
