Your force can be from Codex: Coteaz and Valkyries, but not Inq detachments (because no allies, your teams are effectively your allies)

The dataslates characters and formations require some thought, but I'm inclined to just say "Not this time".

Sad I was planning to run an inq. In my space marines. Since inquisitors are not technically allies, and are like fortifications (which I assume one could take) would that not be allowed?

If it were run like fortifications in this format, then all team members would have to pay points towards it, and two inquisitors would be needed so that each pairing could run one.

He is pointing out that Paz suggested they work like a fortification rather than an ally since their status isn't really defined by GW.

I dunno, their status seemed perfectly defined by GW. They completely break the FoC, allies and Common Sense rules.

Meant to comment earlier, but work is crazy.

Paz can you PM or email me what you're thinking of running exactly?

I see 3 possible ways of doing this.

1) no INQ allies in other forces, period (the way it currently is)

2) INQ can REPLACE you hq and elite choices, imp codexes only.

3) you can take an INQ detachment for your team, work like forts (like Tom outlined above).

I'm open to other suggestions, but I don't see allowing every player to take an extra HQ working. Maybe as simple as one per team?

Personally since we are restricting how the FOC/Allies/Detachments work (due to having a teammate) I would vote for option 1. The only other option I see being reasonable is option 3. Option two (again in my opinion) would favor imperial armies more than it would anyone else which opens up a potential "can of cheese worms".

I think option 3 is solid. Sure, it means you can hit a 3rd HQ per team, but other armies already had ways of doing that, non-slot HQs and stuff. The fact that the cost gets into everyone's points pool, that you need duplicates of all models, and allies of convenience status would keep things from getting too crazy. After all, each player has all of 750 points to work with. With AoC going, a lone Inquisitor doesn't do that much, since he can only buff himself, where as going for something more meaty, say an Inquisitor with 5 Deathcult Assassins in a Land Raider, rips 178 points out of all the lists for a team, and that's for vanilla everything. I think the tight point constraints will help to keep everything in line.

I'll point out to everyone that its ME asking for an inquisitor, and truth be told, just cuz I want to paint and field one I just converted, and thats it. No crazy shit, no fancy henchmen, just a single inquisitor, for fluff and looks.
Hes a crazy powerful t3 psyker level 1 with a hellrifle, totes broken at 70 pts, game changer, so I get your worries.

But if you all feel I run "the cheese", as I'm SUCCCHHHHH a power gamer, I shan't bring him. Im not going to ask my team to change their lists, and build or buy an inquisitor model, thats silly.

The only two abuses of that book are plug-in servo-skulls and Coteaz. So do we need 2 of this guy or to divide the points by 4 and have all of us pay for him?

== to Mike's point, that book does kinda break 40k, but no one really minded until Escalation made us question GW's sanity :-)

My concern is I really didn't want to see 4 barebones INQ in valks on some team or something.

beau- easy fix I think: if the fear is that someone wants to bring an inq. (something that hasnt even been a thing before, as the codex supplement and FOC change is different) they must submit the list to the tourney organizer, to avoid cheeses. I think that's not too much to ask.

Worth noting, because your rules make team members Allies of Convenience, the Inquisitor can't Prescience the other team member anyway (so the real cheese is avoided)

This. I wan't trying to insinuate that anyone was powergaming, i was only poking fun at the current situation with GW. There ARE some really dumb things that inquisitors can add to units that they were not meant for, but i wasn't really concerned with them before or now Smile
