meh, even then. He admitted that the only thing he was looking to win was best appearance, which I think he did. If you are willing to give up the comp points its not a big deal. So he might have had 14/20 comp or whatever.

Re: Astronomi-con Vancouver 2013
The non GK - GK list I thought was OK. I ruined it and only lost because of the ridiculous monkey upgrade rolls he got with his LAST unit coming on from reserve. Rending heavy flamers... (I think twin linked too? maybe not he might have just rolled redic well) blasts 2 oblits with sorcerer and gets 7 wounds PLUS 5 rends.... no big deal ill just not roll ones and tank some wounds right? BAM 3 ones and 5 invuls on the sorc left.... gave him 350ish UP and warlord.... BAAAAAH! o and then the game ended so my helldrake couldn't just flame the rest of his army off the board.
WEll the deathwatch sandwiched me between them and marks nobz sooo yeah kinda boned me. I forget what exactly happened but it was awful.

Now I have the terrifying idea of putting two monkeys and three flamer acolytes into a razorback to firebomb squads with.

So you were a team player all weekend? Should have kept a tally of how many invuls you made throughout the whole tournament. I think in our game you only passed 2-3 that actually might have mattered.
ugh. I didn't end up playing on that board all weekend. I was thinking that a Helldrake or two would goof that monkey army. Anything with templates really. Although the orbital strike with prescience + perfect timing is mean. Although if he doesn't roll up perfect timing its way easier to deal with.

Yeah 3 flamers and 2 heavy flamers belting out rending shots is a lil devastating when you can roll 6's. Still had tons of fun over the weekend even if it did go poorly. I agree that they need to make the missions more uniform to their scoring system. But then again if you want a more competitive system go to a different tourney

Re: Astronomi-con Vancouver 2013
It was pertty fun overall. Had i preped properly for the tourney i would have done much better but as it was eh. The scoring system was definitely flawed but since i figured there was no hope in hell i was going to win, its didn't bother me nearly as much as it irked the other guys haha. I still wish i would have played vs the best general tau guy though, his list really did not seem that difficult to beat. I mopped the floor with some other guy playing Tau. I get the feeling that Tau is not heavy in the meta around those parts. Overall though had a great time playing and the car trip was fun, especially some of the conversations on the way home caused by lack of sleep delirium, met some super cool guys and learnt how to play the board game Eclipse (an awesome strategy game to play with 40k and non-40k friends alike). Would i do it again? Probably, though it would likely be the one in winnipeg not the one in vancouver unless i could get a cheap flight somehow.

Can you really put a price on being trapped in a car with Mark and me when we are tired. Plus that Dark Angels podcast. Never have I hear such an eloquent and comprehensive guide to all their updates

They posted the excel spreadsheet with all the results on the astro main page if anyone is interested. Scored a 29 on sportsmanship! And you guys said I wouldn't make any friends. Although that might have been because I only went 2-4.... stupid reserve missions.
