ToonCon Results
I thought I'd post up the results from Tooncon this past weekend. Everything went unbelievably smooth, so thanks to everyone for making it easy for me to run.
Best Overall : Matt K. - Space Wolves
Best General : Jesse - Chaos Marines
Best Appearance : Pascal - Chaos Daemons
Best Sportsman : John - Imperial Guard
Best Individual Mini : Ryan - Space Marines
Congrats to the winners. There was a bit of mix-up in terms of prizes for the winners. Well, the mix-up was there wasn't any. I blame myself though, I should of probably asked ahead of time what the plan was.
That being said, we have some donations coming in for prizes so all the winners will walk away with at least something. Joe graciously donated a Land Raider for Best overall. I'll get the rest of the prizes out to the winners shortly.
As I said, everything went really smooth. That was reflected in the sportsmanship scores which was pretty much maxed out. It was only out of 2 per game, and while there was an odd 1, there were no 0's and almost all 2's.
Next event.. Team Tournament.. and Im ready to play this time around.

Congrats everyone for your winning. I'm glad I was too hung over to play or Matt K would have cried from my awesomeness the whole time, throwing off his game. You're welcome Matt I didnt ruin your gaming.

Thanks for running things Robyn, I had a blast, (even if Ryan and matt g stomped my daemons into the dirt...), looking forward to the team tournament!

Yeah, was a total blast. My personal highlights were John educating me on the best Leman Russ variant, Matt teaching me to NEVER EVER EVEREVEREVER give thunderwolves outflank, and me and Tom trying not to fall asleep during game 4.
Ian, rematch sometime. That game was just flat-out awesome.

Re: ToonCon Results
And as a note.. I made a mistake with the final mission, as I told few people.
Delay Action, the third scenario, had a special rule called "Delayed Unit" where your opponent picks one of your units, and it starts in reserve.. but it then automatically arrives on turn 3 and can outflank if you want, or deep strike if it can, or come on to the table normally.
The 4th scenario, Secure the Landing Zone.. wasn't supposed to have a special rule.. or if I was going to include one, I cant remember what it was going to be. I think it was going to allow Elites to be scoring.. soemthing minor like that. However, because I was working off the previous scenario's template, I inadvertently left the "Delayed Unit" special rule in.. all the games had started once I realized it though.. Sorry guys. I think it's a fun rule, and forces you to adapt your strategy a bit when something you rely on being there, isn't. But, two games in a row can be a bit irritating. My mistake.

Re: ToonCon Results
I certainly had a good time! I learned that I need more than 2 trygons and a tyrant to kill Ku'Gath. (grumble grumble mutter mutter)
Dan survived past turn 3 playing against me, so I'll call that a moral victory for him. And I've found that biovores ain't that bad, either!
(Insert jab at Matt K, it seems to be the standard thing to do, even though I don't know what the deal is)

Re: ToonCon Results
I don't think you should take any blame whatsoever. We didn't give our money to you Robyn, we gave it to the con. What happened is pretty ridiculous. 40k put up approx $200 dollars for the con and didn't have any extra cost other than the roof over our heads (we used the dens tables and terrain). Was it that expensive? I don't know. But, maybe they should let us know because to pay $15 to play in an event for a $10 first prize gift certificate is really sad. Do they not want miniature gamers there? I wouldn't mind knowing if it was the same situation for fantasy and FOW.System Commander wrote:[color=orange]

But again, thanks Robyn for running a great tournament, besides the lack of prize support, and for trying to gather us up some real prizes. And thanks Joe for your generosity as well.

You're on! I think I could lose a hundred games so long as they're that fun.
Also, I too would like to thank Robyn for organizing a great tourny. It was my very first(!) and although I came in last I still had a great time!
P.S. Congrats to Matt K for being the overall winner! He takes a lot of ribbing but is still a good sport. Top shelf.
