any idea where a good set is to pick up marine size combiweapons?
and/or is it better/cheaper to just shave off a bit of the sides and just merge a bolter with said weapon?

Yup, thats deifnitely your best bet.. making your own. The COmmander box comes with a few different ones I believe, but as far I know there isn't a good supply of them.

I know for chaos your only access to actual combi weapons is from terminators and the chaos lord box. You get one combi-melta and combi plamer with the termies, and one combi melta with the lord.

But yeah, just make your own.. easiest thing to do.

Yeah, I've never even seen a combi-plasma. The old plastic assault marines used to come with a plasma pistol on each sprue. So marine players may have a good supply of potential combi-plasma bits.

The SM termi librarian in metal comes with a combi-plasma (though its detached at the wrist, so pin-ification needed).
