Well, I sure have been critiquing other peoples' lists. It's only fair that I post what I would look at for a list for others to do the same. I am kind of excited by the prospect of wraiths, so I will post a heavy wraithwing list at some point also!

1850 Point Necrons
HQ
Necron Lord w. Warscythe, Catacomb Command Barge 180
Necron Lord w. Warscythe, Catacomb Command Barge 180
Elites
Triarch Stalker 150
Triarch Stalker 150
Triarch Stalker 150
Troops
5 Necron Warriors 65
Night Scythe 100
5 Necron Warriors 65
Night Scythe 100
5 Immortals w. Tesla Carbines 85
Heavy Support
3 Canoptek Spyders 150
3 Canoptek Spyders 150
3 Canoptek Spyders 150
Fast Attack
3 Canoptek Scarabs 45
3 Canoptek Scarabs 45
2 Wraiths w. Whip Coils, Particle Beamer 85

Total: 1850 Points

So a typical Tim list. Plenty of spam, minimal troops and as full of a FOC as I can get. Almost every slot is a threat so opponents will have to make some tough calls regarding target priority and the like. Have at it!

No Doom Scythe Love?

Also, Spyders can only add scarabs to an existing unit. Scarabs are amazing though, and you can creep 'em up on the first turn so you can assault, which is cheeky.

You're a fan of the stalkers eh? Armour 13 until the first pen and open topped. I suppose, once their pen'd their dead anyway. They do have good shooting...

No Tomb Blades? 100pts for 5 tomb blades seems like a good idea to me. Twin-Linked Tesla Love Action. (Or Guass even)

Jeez, you guys love the 175+ point vehicles. For 175+ points that unit better be able to do something freakin' amazing and/or be almost unkillable. IMO the Doom Scythe has neither. I'd easily take 3 Annihilation Barges over those Doom Scythe things anyday and still have 255 points to spend on other stuff.

Why the comment about the Spyders? I have 2 units of scarabs for them to add to. The scarab units start small, but definitely won't finish small some games. Tombs blades seem okay. I'd have to see them in action. Their killing power is pretty meh and Necrons have lots of other fast stuff that can do late game objective contests. They seem like one of those units your opponent can just ignore until he feels it's time to deal with them. I'm not a fan of those sorts of units. I want threats in my opponent's face from the get go.

Stalkers are great tarpits which mitigates the Necron's greatest weakness, hand-to-hand. They are vulnerable to melta, but if your opponent is in melta range he is vulnerable as well. If an opponent rushes in against this army you can tie up problem units with the walkers and counterassault with your 9 monstrous creatures and/or hordes of scarabs.

I'm a big fan of the annihilation barge. 90pts... a steal.

Night scythes are also amazing. That's a lot of s7 shooting. 4 twin linked tesla shots is 5 hits too.

The doom scythe has a twin linked tesla destructor too :-). S10 is kinda good for Necrons :-). 1 doom scythe and two barges?

I'll probably run a monolith, scythe, and a barge :-p

There's an interesting editorial on the new Necron book up on BoLS right now. I'm not sure I 100% agree with it but it makes some good points.

It is posted by Darkwynn though who is a huge idiot, so I don't know.

Ya, I don't think I agree.

175 is steep for a Doom Scythe, and you basically kinda need one, or need your scarabs to perform really well...

I need a few more games to render a meaningful verdict, see how certain individual things perform.

I think the only unfortunate things were the Monolith nerf and the Destroyer nerf, both done to sell new models.

They could've made Ghost Arks and Doomsday Arks less terrible though. (Why would you buy a Ghost Ark when you can have a Night Scythe for 15 points LESS O_O )

There's also an interesting video battle report up on BoLS of Necrons vs Mech Guard. The Necron list had 9 spyders and a single unit with 10 scarabs. Turn 1 the Necron player added 9 bases to the unit, and turn 2 it assaulted. With 19 40mm bases and a 12" assault move you can set up a crazy multiassault! Other than that the list seemed kinda weird. They took the lightning guy and rolled a bunch of 6s, but that's more anecdotal. There will be games where he's 225 points of nothing too. I'm pretty sure you won't see him in serious lists, but you never know.

Ghosts Arks do seem kinda crappy for the cost, don't they?

It only holds 10 guys too. Why not 11 so your cryptek or lord can be with them? Or 21 :-)

Definitely underestimated Scarabs today. You get a ton of goodness out of a 15 point model.

4 attacks, 3 wound fearless models that fleet, charge 12 inches and eat your shit's armor? =x granted they die real bad to str6+ shooting... but hen your shooting at scarabs. I think the only saving grace is that you only have 3 FA slots and wraiths are fairly good too.

When it's all said and done, I'll be running 1-1-1 in both FA and Heavy Support.

10 Scarabs, 5 Tomb Blades, 2-6 Wraiths (not sure yet) (350 ish)
1 Annihilation barge, 1 Doom Scythe, 1 Monolith (465)

Tim, I took destroyers and they didn't suck (they were "meh", jury's still out though :-) )
