Wrecks
i did not know this , but wreks count as both dificult , and dangerous terain. that is a 1-6 chance of loseing a wound , no armor , or cover save allowed .

Re: Wrecks
Ill have to check that one out, I didnt know they counted as difficult for everyone. Dont forget if it explodes, it's removed off the table as well.

Re: Wrecks
I could see difficult, but dangerous? isn't the danger over... you know when I had to make all my guys take a str 4 hit because their ride got jacked by a lascannon shot and they were inside and are now outside... not sure I see where the danger is, unless it's REALLY cold out and they were all wearing their pajamas inside the rhino because obviously it's warm in there and they were watching 'the lake house' and now they have to find their guns and put on their armor after finishing their tea while getting shot at... aside from that scenario I don't see anything dangerous about a crater... I mean seriously? "Ahhhh a knee high hole... I hope I don't lightly sprain an ankle or break a nail while stepping across this dirt...."
What's next, Ld check because it reminds the marines of crater back at the cloning facility play ground and they get sentimental and don't want to fight? "Yeah Jim sorry, I survived the vehicle being blown apart but I couldn't handle the dirt pile that was there afterward..." not sure about everyone else but those kind of marines don't cut it in my army, if they can't walk on dirt without taking a dangerous terrain check i melt them in paint thinner.

Re: Wrecks
I really don't know what point you are trying to make?
I am going to assume that you have issues with making the Ld test after taking the wounds from your rhino going boom...
Well, simple logic to me is, the Ld test represents the mass confusion arising from the explosion that ripped your ride to smithereens, and even though you are in a lowly crater, your attention is elsewhere, and hence the need to test for pinning.
Same thing when the ride is just "wrecked"... the compartment is filling with smoke and fire, and even marine don't want to be in a pressurized enclosed compartment with there is flames and smoke, maybe consoles are blowing, or the RISK of whatever ammo is being carried of going up, so they pile out in a frantic rush, and though they escape hard (no wounds), they are still disorganized from the disembark and have to test for pinning.
I dunno, I might be out to lunch on the way i understood your post, but those are my thoughts on it
Cheers

Matt , thank you for summing that up well.
also remember that taking off a casualty , does not mean it was dead , just means it is out of action for this battle.

Re: Wrecks
nah I was drunk, but I think my issue was with craters being dangerous terrain lol... I think the LD check thing was a joke.

Re: Wrecks
Theres been some confusion. Craters are not dangerous terrain. WHen a vehicle explodes, it's removed and a crater is put out. Its not dangerous terrain. When a vehicle is wrecked, not destroyed, it counts as dangerous terrain.
I think everyone started talking about 3 different things.

Re: Wrecks
I think the confusion is still there, so if the vehicle explodes it is replaced with a crater and you just said that that's dangerous terrain, if the vehicle is wrecked it stays in place obviously, so there's no way it could be dangerous terrain because it's impassible.
My entire concern is WHY IS IT DANGEROUS? difficult yes, dangerous no.

Re: Wrecks
Nvm I think you meant to say "Craters are not dangerous." and then stop talking and not go on to say that they were dangerous terrain... (not trying to be a =I=censor=I= just trying to figure out where all this dangerous terrain comes from)

Re: Wrecks
Wrecks are not impassable terrain. They can be walked over, used for cover etc., except doing so results in a difficult terrain (for walking over and into) as well as a dangerous terrain test (because it's on fire, tracks still going, who knows). This is if you get a vehicle wrecked result. If you get a vehicle explodes result, you replace the model with a crater. The crater becomes just a regular piece of terrain exactly the same as if that terrain started the on table. So, units can probably get cover saves for being in it or on the other side of it depending on line of site and it will count as difficult terrain for moving over or into. There are no dangerous terrain tests for moving across or into such crater.
The dangerous terrain feature is the new part in 5th edition. You could always go over top or through destroyed vehicles and use them for cover, but it never needed a dangerous terrain test.. now in 5th edition, you do.
Everything on page 61-62 of the rulebook.
