~Gardens of Isha Batreps, Week 2!~

Feel free to post in this topic short narrative blurbs about your game!

Who/when/where, and how the battle went, and I'll add it into the gestalt narrative of the campaign in some way!

It'll really help if you include your warlord's name/classification, get your dude to be a central figure! Warlord kills will also be cool to include, getting your boss to injure another character/ get wounded him/her/itself as well! All optional of course.

DESPOILERS VS. SEEKERS, WEEK 2

(PAZ vs. WES)

The Skyscrapers of the dead eldar city seemed to writhe, a thing of rustling wings, chitin and teeth.

The swarm was licking its wounds. The prey-that-fights, the things of flesh and cogs and oil had surprised it, and it had payed dearly in bio-matter.

hive node primus had pulled back the swarm from the Admech landing site, and was now lurking in ancient eldar hab-ruins.

As the hive-mind contemplated its next move, it noticed prey-things, tainted by the other, scurrying around the outskirts of the dead eldar city. As the hive sent out a 'seek' pulse-order to its vessel-forms, a low, thrumming chant gave it pause.

A single prey-thing stepped out of the cover of a nearby structure.

"Ffffor the dark Godddzzz, Glory to Kay-osssss!" it screamed.

The prey-thing was lifted into the air, and exploded in a shower of gore. Then more gore, and blood, and a rent in the air itself burst like a dam, and a sea of viscera poured out onto the broken ground of the city.

The Hive-mind sent forth rippers to slurp up the delicious bio-mass of plasma, while it readied warrior-forms to battle, and called from the skies a nearby Tyrant to swoop low and oversee this new threat.

The hive-mind readies its minions for this new imminent threat

Bursting from the sea of gore, a mighty legion of khorne, lead by a Bloodthirster General, stride towards the alien prey

Towards the back of the khorne forces, an insidious tzeentch herald opens up additional warp portals, and more bloodletters, footsoldiers of the blood god pour forth to claim alien skulls

Not to be outdone, the massive form of K'grosh'va'gx swoops forward, to crush his foes utterly. beneath his notice, chittering seekers of his brother/enemy Slaanesh dash into the nearby ruin, to claim the tactical ground.

Silent hordes of tyranids swarm forward, ready to meet the daemonic line, grub-guns loading writhing bio-munitions into moist tubes. Super moist tubes.

A Genestealer broodlord and his brood vault around the corner of a nearby ruin and smash into the daemonic front lines. The broodlord personally beheads the bloodletter leader, but the hulking form of a khorne herald makes the horde pay dearly for their zeal, and after the dust settles, the broodlord stands alone, with a gory mass of really pissed off deamons surrounding it.

The rest of the tyranid horde breaks cover, sprinting toward the melee lines.

Already pouring alien ichor from a thousand cuts that will not close, the broodlord falls to one knee. Looking up, it sees a massive blade streaming with gore come chopping down, and then its consciousness flees back to the hive gestalt, its body cut directly in twain.

Up in the sky, a dogfight of epic proportions plays out. A beastly Daemon prince of Khorne, Argent the unshamed, beats its wings to catch the hive tyrant. A searing blast of light erupts from the daemon's eyes, and a portion of the tyrant's wing vaporizes into flesh-steam, and the mighty beast crashes into a nearby rooftop. Laughing with deamonic glee, Argent swoops closer to inspect his kill. From the hole in the side of the building, a huge burst of devourer grubs slams into Prince Argent, and his ruin is smote upon the buttresses and towering spines of the eldar ruins. The tyrant rises from the roof, new membranous wing-leather covering the hole left by the eye-blast. It was injured, but it would take more than a 50-meter fall and daemonic eye-lasers to kill this node-beast!!!

As the battle rages, two zoanthrope mind-beasts and a neruothrope float gently in the breeze, whipping out hair-thin mental lances into the daemonic lines. Suddenly,a  soporific musk wafts over the floating brains, and an eerie keening brings the creatures close to the ground. A pack of giggling Slaaneshi fiends burst from a nearby basement, and leap towards the brain-bugs...

Elsewhere, the Khorne herald lets loose a bone-shivering roar, and space-time tears asunder again, and more Daemonic reinforcements pour from the warpstorm already howling around the battlefield. Things do not look good for the tyranid swarms...

Swooping from on high, the tyrant comes to look the Bloodthirster directly in the eye, and showers the khornate general in grub-death. Staggered by teh icky onslaught, the bloodthirster doesnt see the horde of hormagaunts come bounding through the remains of the gargoyles the thirster slayed, and is torn from the sky, his body devoured for the swarm. NooooOOoooo!!!!!

Bursting from the soil in the daemonic backlines, a mighty Trygon unleashes torrents of bio-containment spines into floundering khorne and tzeentch units, uttterly slaying all the summoning backfield reserves! Oh shit!

Gurgling with rotten delight (after chopping up a tyrannofex), a powerful Nurgle herald, hairynose`poopbot`tom`(the third) charges into the deadly hormagaunts, tearing them apart with his deadly blades and engorged fists. Using his horn of nurgle`s rot, he calls forth more plaguebearer servants from the tyranid corpses; his cup har runneth un-over, and that simply will not do. The plaguebearers sigh, there`s no pleasing some people!

Over on the tyranid side, things are not looking up for the Slaaneshi fiends. The alien brains simply psychically screamed so loudly that most of the daemons exploded, and one brain even surged with warp power, becoming nigh-invulnerable for a short time. When the psychic dust settled, the neurothrope was the lone survivor of an arduous slog-fest. damn those brainz!

Herald Hairynose was having a really bad day. All his buddies were dead, and this massive snake-monster just didn`t want to die! With a psychic pulse, the Herald asked the tyranid swarm if it would be so kind as to employ parlay. The tyranid beast stopped its frantic thrashing and general face-smashing of his poor servants to cock its massive head at the little nurglite.

The few survivors one both sides slowly backed up. The Tyrant had been brought down by a psychic flickering onslaught from a tzeentch herald, but that herald was now a fine misty decorating the ground around the Trygon.

Hairynose knew a losing fight when he saw one. And he`d lost his fair share of fights!

``You mayest have thine bio-matter fair-haired slime-beasts! I shan`t impede your beautific feeding naught one more micro-second!`` cried out the herald.

The Trygon hissed a bunch, stopped chewing the face of the dead tzeentch herald, burped, and slithered off. This prey was proving far too costly, and the swarm had other, more serious prey to face-smash.

Tie-game! 13-13 maelstrom, all points counted! 1850 pts, 4 hours, and that was just the most gory smash-blast i`ve ever played.

survivors:

Dishonoured dead: (keeping in mind I summoned a lot of blood letters, so add another 30+ models to my pile from the warp)

Great game Wes! I thought I had you there by turn 3, but your darn nids turned it around on me!

A great report, as always. It goes from serious to ridiculous in a hurry.

"Super moist tubes"? Come on.

Great battle report! It accurately portrays this slug fest. Right down to the sillies and the moist tubes. What a gong show. I didn't think it was going to make it past turn 4 let alone to turn 7.
Also. When I grow up I want to be a "node beast".

Ecto VS Seek

Dom VS Shadow Disco

0345 hours, Sela City

As the 5th SS moved through the city just before day break in a typical patrol formation, they soon linked up with an advanced engagement team from the 3rd Battalion and move on together.
Prime Von Garf sat in the back of his torax prime looking at the floor planing his platoons defection as Field Marshal Vale as abandoned the emperor on a quest for power. However all the commissars in the 5th army are in league with Vale and Commissar Rouge, who was attached to his platoon, must die in order for Von Garf and his men to live.  But all these plans where in vain as they where about to walk into a blood angel trap...

0350 hours

"OPEN FIRE BROTHERS, KILL ALL WHO OPPOSE THE EMPEROR!" The words of the Blood Angels Captain Bellowed across the Blood angels battle line as a hail of bolter fire opened up on the advancing APC's. in the mess that continued the right flank quickly fell witch is ,well was, held by the veterans of the 19th Shock Regiment. so the 5th SS was traped and started to from a defensive perimeter but it was a lose cause  as the 19th fled from the field.

Von Garf disembarked form his ruined Torax to see just how bad thing where his squad member as on the voxcaster with battalion support trying to get reinforcements but the battalion commander, Lt Col. Gates, did not believe they where truly needed that was untill the blood angels librarian used the warp to blow up the commanded squad and left Von Garf mortally wounded. Von Graf Picked him elf up and looked to his right flank his men where being massacred by the blood angels with there chain swords. he then turned his head to his left and saw another squad waving him over, he slowly started to move to wards them but just as his head peaked past the ruined torax a bolter shot paged him right in the head. Enraged of what happened to there commander the squad that waved him over ran into the line of fire and volleyed into a squad of tactical marines. Commissar Rouge's squad then did the same witch was then fallowed by a blast from the punisher. However the squad was soon over run and so was Commissar Rouge's.  with only one torax and the LMR punisher left reinforcements finally arrived the LMR would go on to kill a full squad before being destroyed and the reinforcement guards men where routed from the field. However the Vendetta who brought them in would continued to harass the blood angels until recalled to base.

0430 hours, The Citadel

Field Marshal Vale sat at his desk reading operations reports when a clerk  entered the room with a piece of paper. Vale stood up as as the took the paper and told the clerk to stay, he moved about the room and headed towards a large window that over looked the parade grounds. Vale placed his hand over his mouth as he read the grime news, he then moved back to his desk and sat down. after a minute on silence he garbed a form labeled Central Command Orders and wrote "Lord Commissar Nigel kill Lt Col Gates and take his spot as Battalion Commander." he then sealed it in an envelope, gave it to the clerk and said " send it by courier and mark it for Lord Commissar Nigel's eyes only." The clerk gave him a slight nod and saluted Vale before leavening the room. Leaving Vale to his misery.

Good stuff dom, looks like the blood angels didnt put up with the trecherous astra forces!

Just a quick writing note-

i know youve really improved your spelling, which is awesome!

When you write stories, make sure to avoid using past and present tense within the same character perspective.
"They fought" versus "they are fighting" can get confusing for the reader.

Also, run on-sentences! Gotta watch how long they get, it can get hard to read.

Good stuff tho! Next time snap some pics if you can!

Re: ~Gardens of Isha Batreps, Week 2!~

Post  dusktiger on Sun May 15, 2016 10:57 pm

After quietly biding their time and observing the foul Eldar forces on-planet for a fortnight, the sons of Corax reveal themselves from hidden positions within the ruined outskirts of a long abandoned cityscape.  Brother-Chaplain Torovac leads his strike force of 2nd Company battle-brothers alongside elements of the 10th Scout Company to lure the arrogant forces of the Eldar Wraithhost into a battleground of his choosing.

Thinking that his strike force to be a small and easily outnumbered, and thus easily defeated force, the Eldar took up positions to march forth and wipe them out.

Having believed themselves to be the superior force, and thus easily capable of taking over this pitiful display of force by the Raven Guard, the arrogant Eldar were none the wiser to the traps Torovac had laid for them.  As they marched forwards, Torovac gave a command over his vox system, and three ominous black shadows prowled across the landscape overhead of the Raven Guard's defensive lines.  The Storm Wing attached to Torovac's strike force had entered the field to unleash white hot death upon the enemy.

And at the same time, Torovac sent commands to the hidden Tactical Squad that was being escorted around the enemy's flank by the 7th scout squad and their Land Speeder Storm.

Torovac's trap had worked well to surprise and confuse the Eldar.  a Warlock assigned to a squad of Guardians attempted to cast a Vortex of Doom at the outflanking Raven Guard, only to be himself slain and pulled into the Warp.  However, the Wraithlord construct near their position, devoid of such concepts of doubt and confusion, merely strode forth and destroyed the Land Speeder Storm, stranding the scouts to fend for themselves against the hulking construct before them now.

The Storm Wing's pilots quickly split up to further harrass the Eldar forces.  The Storm Raven squad leader choose to focus on the other Wraithlord, opening up with Lascannon and Multi-Melta fire, and reducing it to smoldering ruin.  The Storm Talon escorts focused their Lascannons and Assault Cannons on a Wave Serpent bearing Wraithguard upon Torovac's lines, wrecking the skimmer permanently.

The outflanking battle-brothers retaliated on the Guardian squad whose ill-fated Warlock had attempted to use his witchcraft upon them.  Hot promethium belched out from their flamers, and the dying screams of the foolish Eldar echoed through the ruins.

The Eldar forces had some who were able to recover more quickly, and having seen the fates met by their brethren, attempted a daring flanking of their own.  Disgorging its cargo of Wraithguard near ruins that had previously hidden it, a Wave Serpent skimmed forwards and fired upon the scouts that were spotting for the devastators in Torovac's strike force, killing one of the young astartes.

However, quick to teach the Eldar of their blunder, the devastators unleashed a withering volley of Plasma Cannon fire upon the Wraithguard the Wave Serpent had left behind.  The entire unit of Wraithguard were obliterated.

However, despite causing massive damage to the enemy's forces; Indeed, nearly wiping them out entirely, Torovac and his strike force had their victory stolen away from them.  For despite having slain the Xenos commander and most of her forces, some few windriders remained and recovered their fallen commander.  And unbeknownst to Torovac, a relic of great importance to the Eldar forces was also recovered in the ruins while his forces were focused on fighting off the wraith constructs.

But the Raven Guard are patient.  And long do they remember those who escape their clutches.  Revenge will be theirs before this campaign ends.

Nice work, Mike!

Only criticism is that you didn't put battle details like who you were playing and what points level at the beginning.

true ian; i went full on narrative there and tried to stay in character for it.  this game was Dan and i, playing at 1500pts.  we did a maelstrom mission and ended on T5 with 7-14 cards in his favor.  had we rolled a T6 though, i would have wiped his army off the table completely and won by default.  He also had first blood and linebreaker, but i took Slay the Warlord.  It was funny when his guardian squad's warlock cast Vortex of Doom and killed himself though.  sadly, it scattered away from anything of mine each turn it was there.
