~Gardens of Isha Batreps, Week 1!~

Feel free to post in this topic short narrative blurbs about your game!

Who/when/where, and how the battle went, and I'll add it into the gestalt narrative of the campaign in some way!

edit= It'll really help if you include your warlord's name/classification, get your dude to be a central figure! Warlord kills will also be cool to include, getting your boss to injure another character/ get wounded him/her/itself as well! All optional of course.

May 01, 2016 Dark Eldar (Entropists) vs. Necrons (Despoilers)

Post  GingerBalls on Mon May 02, 2016 3:29 pm

As the hot engines and cold feet of the newly arrived menace touched down on the Eldar maiden world, the Necron Overlord allowed a smile to creep across his metal features. They were the first to arrive and this would give them a distinct advantage in the battles to come and the immeasurable pleasure of unabated destruction should they find what so many were seeking. Or so he thought...

A darker threat waited just outside the materium: A Kabal fleet of the Dark Eldar. Hoping to find a delicious feast of pain and suffering and the souls of the lesser races, the Dark Eldar were disappointed by the first arrival. No souls would be consumed, but still, they could not suffer outsiders in the immaculate gardens given birth by the ancient forefathers of their own race. The Pirate King of the Kabal of the Merchants of Pain lead a lightning raid on the unsuspecting Necrons caught cloaked in their own blissful ignorance. Having the advantage of initiative poisoned shards and dark light beams alike found their mark a struck deep in the lifeless hearts of the enemy. Jetbikes to fast to hit zoomed over the battlefield sowing confusion and frustration, while the skilled pilots of light raiding skimmers kept there passengers safe from harm. The intruders were sent reeling, hardly a souless metal body left to escape. Though escape their leader and his escort did, through the portal of the last remaining Monolith. They will be back but with increased caution. For a dark eye now watches over the Gardens of Isha.

May 2, 2016. Tyranids (Seekers) vs Eldar (Despoilers)

Post  WesleyNP on Wed May 04, 2016 12:47 am

The Iyanden advanced reconnaissance team emerged in regimented files from their landing craft, wraithbone boots grinding vibrant soil beneath their tread that had not been traversed in millennia. Wraithguards embarked into wave serpents as Wraithlords had weapons checked, an Exarch examined his Dire avengers and a Farseer addressed his unit of Wraithblades. A unit of jet bikes and their riders sped off to sweep the immediate area before the advanced team would begin its assessment. A suitable location to serve as a rally point for Eldar forces must be developed to establish defence of the maiden world from the encroaching opportunist menace.
The Eldar jet bikes swept the dense underbrush until they approached a clearing in the rich flora of the maiden world, halting at the edge of the tree line. Something was amiss. There was an undesirable unknown consequence in advancing, an insidious psychic scratching at the will of the Eldar, an extreme anxiety and uncertainty. Ahead of them were the ruins of what seemed to have been a religious site. Fallen temples and crumbling cathedrals were littered with the remains of figurative stone icons and statues. After regrouping, the unit separated into firing arcs and tentatively advanced.
In the shadows, a vile sentience writhed, sinews coiled and flexed beneath dense chitin, razor sharp talons ached in anticipation.
Genestealers led by a menacing brood lord emerged from the darkness of the ruins with unnatural speed as the lead jet bike arc approached the ruins. The Tyranid expeditionary creatures moved with feral grace as the monomolecular edged  discs erupted from the Eldar cannons, evading the volley as they moved in and out of the shadows, eyes and fangs glinting in from the darkness. The rear arc of jet bikes released their perpendicular volley of Shuriken, with no way to evade fire from two sides the xenos were mulched to ichor and shards of chitin which drooled down the exterior of the ruined cathedral to pool amongst the fallen ruins.
The Eldar sent immediate notification of the situation to the Farseer. The Eldar forces were immediately mobilized to support the jet bikes. Before the message was finished being relayed, seemingly sentient splines slit the air past the jet bikes, dodging obstructions, and banked back around a pillar to shatter against the armour of the Eldar bikes and impale their riders. Evasive actions were taken as a second volley of splines approached, the bikes taking a standard flanking approach to the source of the splines. The source of the attack were hulking beasts - hive guard with sentient weapons. The Eldar jet bikes hammered the unmanueverable hive guard with innumerable Shuriken, chipping away at their thickly plated carapace like a sculptor at a marble block until they finally gave way and slumped to the dirt, sullying the soil with the contents of their thoraxes.

The Eldar support arrived just in time to watch hundreds of ravenous worms erupt from behind a pile of debris. They  flew viscously through the air to the jet bikes, searching with parasitic zeal for separations in armour plates, vents and intakes, and penetrating inside the wraithbone armour to devour the Eldar unit. Termagaunts scurried to reposition themselves in concealment, howling in rapture from the acquisition of rich Eldar biomass for the gestalt consciousness of the hive mind.
A blinding flash of warp energy cracked across the clearing and slapped against the first of two newly arrived Wave Serpents. It exploded with concusive force sending shards of wraithbone in all directions with the Wraithguard inside it, engulfed in flames and crackling warp energy. The Wraithguard emerged unscathed, flames licking the tarnished plates of their armour. The Eldar watched as zoanthropes floated like spectres from sight to safety behind fallen columns to prepare another attack. Distracted, the Wraithguard are attacked from the rupture cannon of a Tyrannofex, the blistering explosive attack leaves them scattered and wounded, unprepared to meet its pounding melee offensive, crushing both armour and flesh beneath its advance.

The Eldar Wraithlord arrives through the ruins of the cathedral, stepping over the scattered remains of the gene stealers, sticky strands of ichor trailing behind its every step. It dispatches the Tyrannofex with an incalculable volume of Shuriken -super accelerated razor projectiles obliterate the creature with an accumulated force too great to withstand.

In response, the hive mind directs its psychic cannon, the zoanthropes, to unleash a warp attack into the Wraithlord. The spirit leeching attack shatters the soul stone of the Wraithlord and it crumples to the ground as a barren husk of bone. The Eldar Farseer rushes to avenge the Wraithlord and is assaulted from its flank, burning acid eats at the armour of his Wraithblades, and crystalline shards perforate their armour and dissolve into caustic ooze. He directs his unit to stand fast and meet the assault, as they turn they are met by claws and blades of xenos bone, clashing against the wraith bone of their own weapons. The predator cunning of the tyranids is hard to overcome in close combat, as his Wraithblades begin to take wounds, the Farseer steps to the front, protecting his unit at his own peril and vanquishing the Tyranid Warriors himself. Full of spite and zeal from the encounter with the Warriors, the Farseer charges across the field to meet the Zoanthropes, his blade being parried by unseen fields of warp energy. Relentless, he maintains his assault until his blade thrusts past the psychic defense and the creatures descend to the ground, their quivering brains shuddering and becoming motionless.
The Exarch and his Dire Avengers take position to cover the advance of the Farseer from the rear. As they advance they are attacked from beneath the very ground itself. Dirt and stone explode into the air, the Dire Avengers seek cover, as the dust settles they are attacked by electric projectile spines, casualties hit the ground twitching inside their armour as they are cooked alive, they return fire at the Trygon prime, Shuriken catapults launching disc after disc at their serpentine attacker. The Trygon slithers into the midst of their group, talons longer than a jet bike dismember the squad of dire avengers and the Exarch. They bleed out into the soil of the maiden world with their brethren.
The remaining Wraithlord sprints into range behind the Trygon and launches a Shuriken volley at the subterranean creature, it thrashes it's mighty tail in huge whipping arcs as it writhes on the ground, wailing as it dies.

The sky darkens, a shadow engulfs the Wraithlord from above, he turns as he hears the crashing demise of the last wave serpent, it crashes to the ground covered in squirming legions of predator worms.  A hissing wail comes from a Hive Tyrant as it beats its leathery wings, soaring though the sky, unleashing blast after blast of incredibly accurate devourer worms. The Wraithlord regroups with the emerging Wraithguard from the wreckage of the wave serpent. Flamer blasts immoliate xenos hordes and Shuriken volleys repel their advances. The mighty Hive Tyrant strafes the Eldar over and over again, and as they suffer wounds and casualties, they hold their ground long enough to be reinforced. With no way to land to press a direct assault due to the overwhelming fire power of the Eldar, the hive tyrant retreats to the hive ship to remuster and return with a force sufficient to reap the rich biomass of the maiden world... and those who would occupy it.

Right on! Thanks, I won't. I'm going to put another one together for the game I played against Ben yesterday. Well. That Ben played against me... It was like I wasn't even there. He slaughtered me.

Admech are a bit of a learning curve to face, especially for nids!

Nids are still in a tough place. Even with the small additions through the supplements. I really want them to get a new codex. I was disappointed that the new 'stealer update still didn't make regular genestealers worth taking.

edit: Going to try and take pics tomorrow night!

Was a good game! We both learned a few things, Wes learned how to Tyranid a bit better, and I learned that torsion cannons are very, very mean against multi wound targets.

With the sudden appearance of this new planetoid and the possibility of an alien artifact containing immense power now at stake there will be a major disruptance in the warp. As war bands from across the sector, both imperial and non-imperial, descend for their chance at glory our most hated foe will become manifest yet again. With this knowledge we have dispatched Strike Cruiser Durius from Titan with haste to combat this threat. Immediately upon their arrival they discovered a Khorne warband manifesting in realspace.

The Battlefield where we could cleanse the scum is set!

The Khorne warband surges forward chanting their inane prayers.

With a crack of techno-lighting and the smell of ozone The Heroes arrive!

Our bretheran bait the trap with their very lives...

Your sacrifice will not be in vain.

Cultists and the followers of chaos are no match for us!

The fall of a Hero...

+++Transmission Ends+++

Adam and I had a great game yesterday night. There were ups and downs for both sides with the dice keeping the game interesting. Most memorable moments for myself were.

1 - right before fighting the first greater demon I failed all of my psychic tests. something like 15 warp charges, no successes. I was seriously concerned I had made a huge error. Turns out the dreadknight had my back and took him down solo style!

2 - After killing the GD the dreadknight got stuck on 4 bloodletters for four rounds of combat....

3 - With nothing but their trusty storm bolters my purifiers put 4 wounds on the summoned GD!

4 - My dreadknight, like a boss (and in a display he has never and probably will never do again), took down a second GD with the assist from the dice gods and Adams horrible rolling!

5 - After taking down two GD, some bloodletters, and fighting a soul grinder to a stale-mate, the Dreadknight went down like a chump to a spawn! Failed 2/4 2+ armour saves and lost his last two wounds... I'm sure he's not dead.... just incapacitated.... yea...

Hope you all enjoy my massive post!

Wednesday May 4 - Tyranids (seekers) vs Adeptus Mechanicus (seekers)

Post  WesleyNP on Sat May 07, 2016 3:30 pm

Mundane tasks were being performed with great efficiency as the Adeptus Mechanicus brought to completion the temporary Mechanicus facilities that would supply the imperial campaign on the Maiden World. Servitors bustled back and forth, mechanical limbs carrying them with technical precision to complete their commands with haste.

In the cover of night outside the reaches of the phosphorescent ballasts there stirred a consciousness of singular focus. It's multi limbed subservient soldiers crept through the lush cover that obscured them from view, positioning themselves for an overwhelming assault which would arrive with speed and precision that for which there could be no reply.

The Tyranid hive mind gave the order to advance, the Tyranid horde burst from the underbrush surrounding the Adeptus Mechanicus compound. Alien creatures beyond comprehension scurried, leapt, slithered and glided towards the unawares Mechanicus. Just as they reached striking distance of a squad of Skitarii Infiltrators, secondary and tertiary ballasts burst into life flooding the darkness with blinding, white hot phosphorescent light. Every shadow was annihilated. There was no corner or crevasse that was not bathed in revealing light. The ambush assault was compromised with no reply possible. All initiative had been lost to the Mechanicus. The trap was sprung, predator had become prey with the flick of a switch. Weapons fire erupted from multiple locations in a coordinated effort, that had been carefully prepared and performed.

An Infiltrator unit opened fire at group of Termagaunt organisms, the rounds of their flechette blasters hitting home against the hard carapace of the Tyranid underlings. The dormant cerebral cells of the flechette rounds triggered on contact sending out a pulse that attracted the remaining rounds in flight to land with great impact and precision. The Termagaunts fall and more Termagaunts flood over their fallen kin in an unstoppable wave. They fire their devourers at the Skitarii with abandon, the reticules of the cybernetic soldiers regard the incoming worms with stoic resolve. Legions of devourer worms slam into the Infiltrators from the catwalk were they are perched, devourer organisms searching for flesh amongst machine parts and chewing through servos and steel. A brood of Zoanthropes manifest and focus powerful blasts of warp energy at the Skitarii, immoliating Infiltrators and devourer worms alike with flashing explosions. A single infiltrator survives the onslaught.

He leaps down from the catwalk, carrying himself across the expanse between his fallen comrades to the Tyranid warp beasts with blinding speed. Brandishing his Taser Goad high, he leaps at the Zoanthropes bringing his weapon forward with maximum effort. It is repelled with equivalent force, an impenetrable field of energy forcing him off of his target. He brings forth a relentless assault against the unmanuverable creatures. They slowly lose focus and attacked slip by the warp defence, hyperdynamo capacitors unleash blasts of kinetic energy from the prong tips of the tasers, blasting holes in the Zoanthropes. they all fall, the Lone infiltrator stands as the victor, bleeding machine fluids, his Crimson cloak not but shreds of tattered cloth.

Skitarii Rangers open fire on lumbering forms of Tyranid Hive Guard with their Galvanic Rifles, attacking the enemy of the
Omnissiah. The Hive Guard seek cover from the assault. In the blinding brilliance of the phosphorescent ballasts there is none to be found. Breachers bring Torsion cannon blasts to the attack and the Tyranid gun beasts implode from the twisting force of the blasts. Carapace shards and ichor cover the ordered grounds of the Mechanicus compound.

The giant Tyrannofex mounts a building with a mere stride and fires his massive rupture cannon at a Dune Strider tucked in cover between promethium tanks. It's massive explosive paylode ignites on the hull of the dune strider, engulfing it in smoke and flames. Destroyers unleash a devestating barrage of grav cannon fire in reply. The Tyrannofex is crushed by the gravitonic force of the attack. His carapace cracks under the pressure. Ichor flows freely from between the plates of its chitinous armour. Close to death, it retreats to safety, gallons of alien fluid trailing in its wake.

Tyranid Warriors attempt to gain retribution for the assault of their ally. They fire crystalline bio shards from their death spitters and blasts of acidic ooze at the breachers pitting their armour and compromising the mechanical systems beneath. The Dune Strider whom the Breachers had saved previously, emerged arachnid-like from the flames of the rupture cannon blast. It was unharmed, it's meticulously crafted exterior had protected it from harm. Neutron laser fire screams from its cannon, erasing the lead Tyranid warrior, stubbed fire follows behind it shattering ferrocrete the Warriors attempt to use for cover, punching holes in the exoskeleton of one of the remaining targets.
Rust stalkers charge the last Warrior before it can gain its bearings, the flashing vibro blades of their trains sonic razers flash through the air, parried by the dual bone swords of the Tyranid monster. The mechanical precision of the rust stalkers in number is a match for the ferocity, predator instincts and alien speed of the warrior. The creature falls, taking all but two of the rust stalkers with him.

The Rust stalkers in their zeal from defeating the Warriors follow the ample trail of ichor left from the wounded Tyrannofex and charge into combat with it, mounting it on its back, chopping away at its compromised carapace. It dispatches them with ease and indifference, their metal bodies shattering and twisting beneath its alien strength and weight.

A Carnifex levels his venom cannon at the Skitarii Vangaurd and the tech priest leading them. Half the unit becomes molten steel, dissolving beneath the sticky corrosive firepower. Destroyers blind side the Monsterous Tyranid, it explodes from the force of their grav cannons, no match for the crushing force of the attack.

As the Vangaurd and the Tech Priest regroup from the attack, they are evicerated from below as a Trygon explodes from beneath them, sything talons carving through steel and flesh alike, blasts of electric force from thorax fired spines destroying mechanical parts of the Skitarii Warriors. A Vangaurd fires his plasma gun in reply to the attack, it discharges against its user, bathing him in plasma energy killing him instantly. The tech priest and Vangaurd sergeant are all that remain, they engage the Trygon is close combat to escape another bio-electric attack. The Priest blinds the giant beast levelling the playing field.

An ear shattering scream baths the battlefield, a winged hive Tyrant swoops down from the blackness above, devourer fire killing a group of electro priests before they had time to turn their heads skyward, ravenous worms consuming them, boring through their innards towards their nervous centres. The hive tyrant then fires at the destroyers, worms consume flesh at a unbelievable speed, leaving one twitching on the ground. The remaining Vanguard and Rangers fire volleys of futile firepower at the hive tyrant, it's mastery of the sky is used to evade the volleys with ease. It swoops back down to deliver another deadly attack of devourer fire. The comrades of the fallen destroyer trigger their grav cannons at the swooping creature, one shot hit home, wounding the terrible monster, it crashes to the ground with a wail. Breachers follow the decent with torsion cannon blasts. The hive tyrant thrashes madly in its terrible death throes, it is turned inside out from the constant torsion gun fire.

The remaining tyranids scream with defeat, the synaptic backlash of the defeat of the lynch pin of their force is too much to bear. The hive mind lashes out. The Trygon rears back expelling an unbelievable electromagnetic pulse, the phosphorescent ballasts burst in response. The battlefield is blackened. Everything is quiet. The tech priest manipulates his servo arms in the dark and restores a light source. The tyranids are gone. It is a resounding victory for the Adeptus Mechanicus despite the loss of their brothers in arms. As the light intensifies they go on a search for their wounded and to dispatch any remain tyranids. There are no wounded. Their bodies are gone. The Tyranid dead are also missing. All that remains are shattered pieces of carapace, ichor stains, ruined cybernetics and tatters of Crimson cloak. The aliens retreated with the bodies of the dead. They will be recycled, reduced to biomass and used to renew their attack in the future. With a chill that affects even the resolve of the Adeptus  Mechanicus, they go about making repairs to restore the damage done to the field station.

Thanks!

Those are the best ones. I must have take 30ish more. Quantity has a quality all its own and all that jazz. The red number ones was Adams to hit roll against my Dreadknight with his Greater Demon. I think he even failed to wound with the one that hit....

The dice went a bit crazy during parts of the game. Like that spawn was supposed to be a demon prince, but Adam rolled box cars for his LD test to summon him. Was a ton of fun though.
