Small Newbie Game

Hi everyone, (not sure if this is the absolute correct place to post this but here goes)

I finally have enough units put together to actually play a really small game (500pts) And I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take some time to completely destroy me play a small game to sort of get used to the rules and such?

This wouldn't be a league game, but more of just a fun skirmish so I can get used to the rules and play.

I could probably help you with some small games closer to the end of the month after my pay cheque rolls through and I have gas money again.

You shouldn't have much trouble finding other games in the mean time, though, as an escalation league is about to start up at around the 750 point mark, and people will be eager to start kicking the tires on their low-point lists. All in all, you ended up timing this request pretty well.

What army do you play? It is entirely possible that the squads you have already might have 250 points worth of upgrades available to them.

Playing CSM Nurgle. At the moment my army is just Plague Marines, Cultists (zombies), Typhus, and Either a Deamon Prince or a Hellbrute. By the time I actually schedule a game I may have some Oblits in there as well.

It's not an optimal army at all, I mostly just want to get used to the game style and learn the rules, while still using some of my core units.

I'm going to tell you this right now: that list is going to perform better than you're currently giving it credit. Plague Marines are a tough nut to crack, and the zombies do a really good job at dieing slowly enough to be a persistent threat. Hellbrutes aren't amazing by any means, but they're usable. Just remember to look at the FAQ for the Hellbrutes, because they had their cost dropped by a bit.

And that Daemon Prince, oh boy that Daemon Prince. If you stick with the Nurgle theme and give him wings, he will be a force to be reckoned with. Just have him hop about the field, never actually taking to the skies, and have him drop psychic powers for a turn or two before going in to charge a squishy target with the Black Mace.

All told, with the units listed, hitting 750 points shouldn't be that hard at all.

Really I just need to add more troops to the squads, right now I've only got small squads (7-10 guys).

We usually get together on Friday nights at the Den. I don't know what your availability is like on Friday nights but if you'd like to schedule a small game for then I'd be happy to oblige. If we're lucky we might be able to round up a group of people and have a small round robin so you can get some different looks and input. Games of that size only take an hour and a bit.

My Friday's are hit and miss, but I am free this Friday. What time are people normally there?

I could also prrooobably do a saturday game, once I'm done wiping the floor with Mark for the league finals this Wednesday

Hey, I'm usually free most week days between noon and 6ish, so if that might help I'd be done for a few smaller games just pm me and see what happens!!

I'm usually there around 7 depending on what my after work schedule is like. The den is open until midnight so as long as you can get a table you're golden.

But I'm always free for a sunday afternoon game

Unfortunately I was looking at the wrong weekend when I said I'd be free Friday and Saturday. Turns out I'm all booked up this weekend and won't be able to make it to the den. But next weekend should be good

(Plus gives me more time to get more models done )

Im going to see if the wife will let me go next Sat (late-ish, like get in right before close). Maybe do a 4 person round robin?
